Chris Rolfe struck twice in three minutes to overturn Jairo Arrieta's opener and give his team a shot at the Eastern Conference title.Chicago recorded its fourth straight victory over Columbus to move to second place in the Eastern Conference, defeating the Crew 2-1 at Toyota Park.
Jairo Arrieta opened the scoring for the visiting side before the opening quarter-hour was up, cutting out a lazy pass from Sean Johnson, rounding the Chicago keeper, and tucking his finish inside the near post.
Chris Rolfe struck back for the Fire, finding the net twice in three minutes to seize the advantage for the home team. For his first, a well-timed run put him on the end of a slick Sherjill McDonald through ball and he finished past Andy Gruenebaum to equalize.
For the go-ahead goal, Rolfe showcased his technical ability and creative flair, taking Patrick Nyarko's short pass and chipping Gruenebaum from a standing position outside the penalty area.
The three points leapfrog the Fire above the New York Red Bulls, who failed to beat the New England Revolution, and leave them two points behind Eastern Conference pacesetter Sporting Kansas City with a game in hand.
