Chicago set an MLS record with 15 draws this season. The Fire have 24 points, one point above bottom in the Eastern Conference.
- Colorado, fourth in the West, has 41 points.
- In a 2-2 draw with Chivas USA last week Pablo Mastroeni became the fourth player in MLS history to start 300 games. Drew Moor set an MLS outfield record by completing 68 continuous matches in the draw.
- Chicago capped a 10-match winless run by beating Toronto FC 2-0 last week. It was the Fire's second double-digit winless streak during the season.
- The previous meeting between these two sides unsurprisingly finished in a draw, with one goal apiece in the April 30 encounter.
