The Neapolitans will aim to carry on their great run of results in Serie A.
Cagliari are expected to struggle for survival this season but the Sardinians are doing relatively well. At the moment the Isolani are 12th in the table with 11 points from 10 matches.
But Cagliari are just three points above the relegation zone and need to pick up points. With the table very congested, the Sardinians should realize that they will have to look at every game as potential three points.
However, Cagliari do have a good record at home as they have won two, drawn one and lost one in the league, scoring seven times and conceding just two. They won the last game at the Stadio Sant'Elia, defeating Bologna 2-0.
Mission Champions League
Napoli commenced the 2010-11 season as genuine contenders for a Champions League spot and they are well on course to accomplishing their task.
Walter Mazzarri’s side are currently fifth in Serie A with 18 points from 10 matches and have as many points as fourth-placed Juventus. Napoli defeated Parma 2-0 at the weekend – it was their second win in a row in the league.
Interestingly, Napoli have not lost on the road yet this season in the league and have won three of the five away matches. Therefore, the former Italian champions will expect themselves to bag maximum points in Cagliari on Wednesday night.
Ragatzu, Pisano, Lazzari and Sivakov are out injured for the Sardinians, who will have Nene and Matri as the two strikers upfront in a 4-3-1-2 formation.
Lucarelli and Pazienza are out injured for the Azzurri. Walter Mazarri could deploy a 3-4-2-1 formation with Cavani playing the lone striker’s role with Hamsik and Lavezzi behind him. Yebda is likely to replace Pazienza in central midfield.
