  • Well that's your lot from me. I've been Daniel Edwards, stay tuned for Madrid as we count down to Champions League!
  • Dortmund appeared to barely break sweat in a routine match, they maybe would have liked to kill the game off earlier but all in all they can be happy with a fluid display.
  • And that is that! Easy stuff for Dortmund, a goal at each end of the game to dispose of Mainz, two goals to zero. A decent warm-up for midweek's showdown.
  • 90' + 1'
We'll have two minutes of injury time here.
  • 90'
    Yellow Card Christian Wetklo
  • 90'
Wetklo is seriously annoyed at something and lets the referee know, who in turn obliges with a booking.
  • 87'
    Assist Lukasz Piszczek
  • 87'
    Goal Robert Lewandowski
GOAL!!!! That's all she wrote, so so easy for Lewandowski as he turns in a low cross. Piszczek and Leitner combined beautifully for that one to lay it on a plate for the top scorer.
  • 86'
    Substitution Marco Reus Moritz Leitner
  • 86'
Oooh what did I just say? Reus goes down heavily after a strong challenge, and Klopp is straight up to ask for the change. Surely just a precaution.
  • 84'
A rather scrappy end to this encounter, a lot of unnecessary fouls and disruptions taking the rhythm out somewhat.
  • 83'
A very encouraging sign for Klopp is to see Reus complete the 90 minutes without problems, he will be needed against the Merengue.
  • 82'
10 minutes and a bit of spare change left in this one, Dortmund haven't exactly been sparkling but they've done enough to edge it so far.
  • 81'
    Substitution Nikita Rukavytsya Marco Caligiuri
  • 80'
Mainz win a fairly soft free kick 30 metres from goal and look to create, but the delivery is all too disappointing and Szalai is furious his team did not take advantage.
  • 79'
    Yellow Card Marcel Schmelzer
  • 78'
    Yellow Card Niki Zimling
  • 78'
Well that was coming. Zimling finally earns his yellow, pole-axing Schieber down in the corner.
  • 78'
SVENSSON!!! Lewandowski's header from the resulting corner was probably heading wide, but still a big moment from the centre-back to head off the line just in case.
  • 77'
More dangerous stuff to BVB, Reus does brilliantly to wriggle through, lays off to Schmelzer who fires in with Lewandowski the target. Big header from Noveski to repel.
  • 76'
Let's look forward to the Champions League for a moment shall we? What do my readers on the interweb think will happen when Mourinho visits Signal Iduna Park?
  • 74'
    Substitution Mario Götze Julian Schieber
  • 74'
That's about as close as Mainz have come! A neat one-touch move is finished by Szalai who rips in a low shot, but it grazes the post on its way out of play.
  • 72'
Lewandowski tries the give and go with Gotze, he's in the area and he takes a big tumble. He was definitely grabbed by Bell, but the referee errs on the side of caution and there will be no penalty.
  • 71'
That result leaves the Bavarians' goal difference at 75 so far in the season. Which isn't bad at all.
  • 70'
    Substitution Shawn Parker Nicolai Müller
  • 70'
Flicking to the champions briefly, and the scoreline poses few shocks. 5-0 away to Hannover, they truly are unstoppable at the moment.
  • 68'
    Yellow Card Stefan Bell
  • 68'
Credit has to go to both teams, Dortmund for chasing more goals and Mainz for the way they have resisted. Svensson steps in to break up a promising move in the area, booting the ball to safety.
  • 66'
Well that was nearly another for Dortmund. Reus plays a lovely one-two with Gundogan and has the goal at his mercy, but hits too high and wastes a golden opportunity.
  • 66'
After such an explosive start, this game has been a bit of a non-event, as Dortmund have cruised through in third gear. A Mainz goal would really shake things up.
  • 65'
Just a reminder that almost straight after this game, Real Madrid will be in action at home to Betis. Will Goal.com be watching? You'd better believe it!
  • 63'
Here come the changes. Kuba is retired, and Grosskreutz will take his place out wide.
  • 62'
    Substitution Jakub Blaszczykowski Kevin Großkreutz
  • 62'
Schmelzer and Reus combine for Gotze in a decent position, but his first touch is too strong and he loses possession. With a little more composure, Mario will conquer the world.
  • 61'
A scare for BVB, Kuba stays down from Baumgartlinger's challenge but he's fine. The resulting free-kick is headed away without issue.
  • 60'
Well Mainz have already turned to the bench, bringing on top scorer Szalai, but Klopp so far is unmoved with the starting XI. Surely it is only a matter of time before we see a sub.
  • 58'
Straight from the corner Dortmund and Gotze hare away on the counter, and Wetklo is forced to come well out of his area to clear.
  • 57'
    Substitution Marcel Risse Adam Szalai
  • 57'
A narrow escape from Subotic, he dawdles on the ball and is caught by Parker, but recovers in time to concede a corner.
  • 55'
Mainz don't make life any easier for themselves. A procession of misplaced passes in their own box let in Dortmund through Reus, who fires just wide. They're dangerous enough without help, lads.
  • 53'
My oh my, Schmelzer again!!! Reus reached a ball he never should have, right under Wetklo's nose, and gets it to the wideman who slides and hits into the side-netting.
  • 51'
Ooooooh Schmelzer!!! The full back has been quiet so far, but he appeared on the left there out of nowhere and drove his shot just past the post. Good chance.
  • 50'
No changes for either team since the return from the interval.
  • 48'
Zimling was not too far away there, a ferocious effort from deep that goes over the bar.
  • 46'
Here we go again, Mainz get us started in the second half.
  • Dortmund are cruising, but Klopp may have wanted one more goal on the board to start rotating a few players and ensure fresh legs for Madrid.
  • And that's half time. Reus' dawn raid has put the home team ahead, but this one ain't over just yet. Stay tuned for more.
  • 45'
Let's not forget that Jurgen Klopp is also quite a popular figure with the away faithful. The coach was the man who brought the Rhineland team up to the top-flight for the first time ever, in 2004.
  • 44'
Mainz finish the half a little on top, a corner here, a free kick there. Still no way through though, and Weidenfeller is yet to be tested.
  • 43'
No problems there for Weidenfeller, the away team looked to nod the free kick across goal but the keeper was too quick.
  • 41'
    Yellow Card Mats Hummels
  • 41'
That's a yellow for Hummels, he cut down Parker in full flight to goal and this could be a chance for Mainz.
  • 40'
This result is making European football look a long way off for Mainz. Currently in ninth, they would need to overcome a five-point deficit if this stays the same to reach the Europa League.
  • 38'
That was a little easier for Wetklo, but still dangerous... Piszczek's cross was met by Lewandowski, and the keeper claimed confidently the header.
  • 36'
Reus drifts out on the left and has space to go for goal but wait!!! He had just strayed offside when Gotze released him, we go back for the free kick.
  • 34'
A snapshot from Gundogan that almost crept in, he took it first time from a rebound and fired just wide.
  • 33'
Simply incessant pressure from the home team, they are attacking with at least five men and as soon as the ball is lost, they chase it like a terrier puppy. Impressive stuff.
  • 31'
    Yellow Card Marco Reus
  • 31'
Gotze is popping up everywhere, this time on the right as he plays the ball off his marker for a corner. It goes short and Kuba lines up, but his shot is blocked by a Mainz body.
  • 30'
¨Penalty???? No, I don't think so. Lewandowski explodes down the middle, passes Wetklo and goes down under the challenge. He made the most of it, but that could have gone either way.
  • 28'
And at the other end, that was a real chance! BVB are stretched, Piszczek passed on the right and Parker is free in the middle, but the low cross cannot find him. The forward does not look pleased.
  • 27'
So close Lewandowski!! Exactly what I was talking about, Gotze and Gundogan combine in the box for the Pole, who curls the ball agonisingly close to the top corner.
  • 25'
A little better now from Mainz, who have started to press a little. Problem is, every time Dortmund go forward they look like scoring.
  • 24'
That was a chance for the visitors. A sloppy ball given away in the middle and Mainz go on the counter, sending a cross over for Nikita Rukavytsya. The striker has time, but blasts over.
  • 22'
To the surprise of pretty much nobody, Bayern have also taken the lead over Hannover. It really has been a one-sided season out in Germany.
  • 20'
Stat attack: That first goal actually was timed at 30 seconds. It is the fastest Mainz have ever conceded in the Bundesliga.
  • 19'
From deep Reus eventually opts for the cross, but it is well dealt with by Mainz who go on the break. It's worked out left, but Weidenfeller is there to make his first intervention of the day, an easy cross claim.
  • 18'
Gotze is the next man to feel Mainz's wrath, and this free kick is in a decent position. Attention Wetklo!!
  • 17'
Ouch, Gundogan floored in the middle by Zimling's challenge and I think the Mainz man is a tad fortunate to escape a yellow there.
  • 15'
Ooooooooh Wetklo comes to the rescue once again! Reus' kick is nodded across by Kuba and Subotic drives towards goal, saved by the keeper!
  • 14'
After a few quiet minutes BVB suddenly spring into action, working it down the right with Kuba and Piszcek. It's a corner.
  • 13'
We've already seen the paper Champions Leagues in the stands today, no doubts over what the fans are thinking about.
  • 11'
11 players behind the ball for the visitors, and Dortmund are toying with them taking the game one way and the next. You can see a second goal arriving before too long.
  • 9'
Mainz have been completely outplayed so far, I've counted roughly 10 touches in total - most of them from the goalkeeper.
  • 7'
Delicious football from Piszczek, who turns his marker one way and t'other on the right. Shame that his cross was a little heavy, it deserved better.
  • 6'
REUS!!! Almost the second, dear oh dear. The forward is free as a bird on the right, he shoots from the edge of the box and it's Wetklo that this time comes to the rescue with a good save.
  • 5'
This could be another pasting, Dortmund are encamped in Mainz territory and have a corner.
  • 4'
Kuba chases a deep ball down in the corner, he tries to play it off the defender but it doesn't come off and it's a goal kick.
  • 2'
According to my (imaginary) stopwatch, that goal came after just 31 seconds of play. Not, you could say, the ideal start for Mainz.
  • 1'
    Goal Marco Reus
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLL!!!!! Well Dortmund didn't waste any time!!!! A long ball forward, Wetklo spills and Reus has the easiest finish possible, 1-0 to the home team.
  • 1'
And we are off!! BVB get us started, how's this one going to pan out?
  • Dortmund have got the game of their lives against Madrid midweek, but Klopp has opted for a strong team to finish the Bundesliga in style. Will the gamble pay off?
  • and for the away team... Wetklo - Pospech , Noveski, Svensson , Bell - Baumgartlinger - Risse , Malli - Zimling - Rukavytsya , S. Parker.
  • Dortmund first then... Weidenfeller - Piszczek , Subotic , Hummels , Schmelzer - Gundogan , Sahin - Blaszczykowski , M. Gotze , Reus - Lewandowski.
  • Let's take a look at the teams, shall we?
  • Ladies and gents, welcome to Signal Iduna Park once more as we wait for Borussia Dortmund to take on Mainz. My name, as usual, is Daniel Edwards, and I'll be guiding you through this match like a ship's captain through ocean waters. Enjoy!
