Gathered a Taylor-Fletcher header comfortably in the opening stages and was rarely tested throughout the rest of the match, other than a good stop on full-time.
Looked positive in the first half, setting up Zigic with a chance at the far post, but was also sloppy in the final third with his deliveries at times.
Had a brilliant opportunity just a minute into the second half to double his side’s lead, but he could only header over the bar.
Put in a fantastic block moments into the second half to deny a goal-bound Charlie Adam effort.
Gave Birmingham a 1-0 lead, nodding home from close range after Zigic struck the crossbar.
Another steady performance from the midfielder as you would expect, keeping hold of possession well and playing it short to a team-mate.
Saw his fifth-minute free-kick tipped over the bar by Gilks before almost creating a chance for Zigic moments later. Posed a threat with his set-pieces all afternoon.
Failed to stamp his mark on the game from a more central position than usual, but did have a long range strike deflected wide before he was replaced.
Drove at the heart of the Blackpool defence from an unfamiliar position behind the two strikers, but was unable to provide the finish as Cathcart blocked.
Frustrated home fans early on in the game, racing through on goal only to be denied by Cathcart before having his weak shot easily saved by Gilks. Had a goal quite rightly ruled out for offside.
Came close to scoring on seven minutes after deflecting a long range effort from Larsson towards goal. Caused chaos to set up Birmingham’s opener, heading the ball against the crossbar before it landed in the path of Ridgewell. Scored for the second successive match after pouncing on a mistake to fire home.
Did well to tip Larsson’s early free-kick just over the bar. Could had done more to prevent Birmingham’s opener. The stopper stumbled across his line to focus on Zigic but failed to get back in position to stop Ridgewell’s effort.
Almost created the first goal of the game after drilling the ball across the face of goal in the first half, but Taylor-Fletcher failed to convert. Attempted to block Ridgewell’s header for the goal, but was unable to close him down quick enough.
Put in an excellent last-ditch challenge to prevent Garry O’Connor from putting the hosts ahead. Made the odd poor decision, but outshone Evatt.
Poor defending from the centre-back allowed Fahey to have a pop at goal from the edge of the area in the first half. Did well to stop Zigic receiving the ball in the six-yard box by unconventionally heading over.
Booked for a clumsy challenge on Fahey, and was nearly punished by Larsson’s free-kick.
Another assured display from the Scot in the first half, stopping the hosts breaking forward in his disciplined midfield role. However, it was his awful first touch that presented Zigic with the chance to double Birmingham’s lead. Replaced in the second half.
Looked to get his side back into the game on a number of occasions but was unable to create anything of note for the visitors.
The attacking midfielder had an early far post header well claimed by Foster before failing to get on the end of Crainey’s excellent delivery from the left.
Showed some neat footwork to skip past Larsson on the edge of the area before seeing his left-footed effort saved by Foster.
Another hard working performance from the former Crewe Alexandra forward, tracking opponents when not in possession and breaking forward at every possible opportunity.
Began on the right of the front three but was unable to show the kind of goal scoring threat that had seen his displace Elliot Grandin. Replaced in the second half.
- 1 Maik Taylor
- 28 M. Jiranek
Second half substitute for Hleb. Stormed forward upon his arrival but nobody could steer in his left-wing cross.
Replaced Fahey in the second half. Miscued a left-footed shot from a narrow angle over the bar.
- 17 Míchel
Came on in the second half. Looked dangerous cutting inside from the left but was unable to cause too many problems.
- 28 R. Kingson
- 31 D. Keinan
Came on for Adam around the hour mark, and was steady in midfield.
- 14 E. Grandin
- 29 D. Carney
Replaced Harewood in the second half, but couldn't spark the game into life.
Second half substitute for Harewood. Couldn’t get involved.
