Bayern Munich will recall Philipp Lahm, Franck Ribery and Mario Gomez to the starting lineup for Tuesday's Champions League semifinal first leg against Real Madrid, after the trio were rested on the bench for the weekend draw with Mainz.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is available after serving a one-match ban, but Jupp Heynckes stated in a Monday press conference that he is unsure whether the vice-captain will start due to lack of match practice. Toni Kroos may stand in for his Germany international colleague, while Luiz Gustavo appears a lock for the second defensive midfield position. Defenders Daniel Van Buyten (foot) and Breno (knee) are both out.

Madrid boss Jose Mourinho will likely reinstate Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria to the starting XI after the trio was benched for Saturday's win over Sporting Gijon.

Xabi Alonso returns from domestic suspension, but Ricardo Carvalho (thigh) and Lassana Diarra (hamstring) are both sidelined.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo (pictured right) has struck 14 Liga hat tricks for Madrid, two more than Ferenc Puskas' tally for the club, but still well behind Alfredo Di Stefano's record (22).
