That's it! 8-0 is the final and it's Barcelona's biggest home win since 1949. Messi with a hat-trick, Villa had a brace, and Xavi, Cesc and a Roversio own goal provided the other three. Barcelona has made its statement, but will face a much tougher test against Valencia in the upcoming midweek fixtures.

It's the Fabregas-Messi connection once more as the Argentine gets his hat-trick to make it eight. A lovely interchange between the two sees Messi get the ball at the edge of the area, skip past an Osasuna defender and coolly finish.

Yup, it's seven. Some inept defending allowed Fabregas to walk through the Osasuna defense and square to Villa, who took one touch past Fernandez and tapped into an empty net.

Barcelona always looking for more as Villa curls a shot just over the ball after receiving a pass from Messi.

Osasuna have one chalked off! Nino cuts in and shoots from the edge of the area, and it takes a deflection of Balde over Valdes and in. However, Balde was in a clear offside position, negating the goal.
  • 65'
Well, look at this! Osasuna with a brilliant chance as Nino is played through, but at a tight angle he opts to shoot rather than square to a wide-open Ibrahima Balde, who would've had the simplest of finishes. Barcelona's high line let off the hook, though doubtful a goal would matter at this point.

Barcelona is effortlessly passing it around as Osasuna has failed to apply any pressure whatsoever. Messi nearly had his hat-trick, but was denied by a brave play from Fernandez.

Nearly seven! A training ground corner as the ball fell right to the feet of Alves outside the area, who hit it first time only to see his effort speed just wide of the post.

The inevitable sixth has come. Messi loops the ball over the Osasuna defense to a completely unmarked Xavi, who has enough time to turn and lob it over Fernandez. Too easy.

The second half is underway at the Camp Nou! Will Barcelona tack a few more on, or can Osasuna salvage a consolation goal or two?
  • 45'
The referee spares Osasuna another first half goal and blows the whistle right as the clock hits 45 minutes. Simply superb from Barcelona, who have picked a part a lifeless Osasuna side.

Osasuna has simply lost the plot and it's 5-0. First, Abidal springs Villa with a cross-field ball, and although Villa's initial attempt was saved, it bounced in off Roversio for the 4-0, and it went down as an own goal. Immediately after the restart, Barcelona won possession as Fabregas received the ball in the area and turned to find Messi, who finished it with his right foot to make it five.

Barcelona makes it look simple as David Villa makes it 3-0. Abidal slots it through to Villa, who rounds Fernandez and finishes coolly for his first La Liga goal of the season.
  • 30'
Should be 3-0. Alves gets free down the right and crossed, only for Fernandez to flap at it. Messi was there to head home into the open net, but somehow contrived to hit the post. A poor miss from the Argentine.

Abidal off the bar! But the flag was up. The French defender was wide open, but strayed offside as he nearly had Barcelona's third. A third goal wouldn't be unexpected, as Osasuna already seems to have packed it in.

Just over 20 minutes gone and nothing to indicate that Barcelona will relinquish its 2-0 lead. Still, it did so against Real Sociedad and has to be careful as it looks to add a third.

Cesc makes it 2-0! A typical Barcelona goal as Cesc chests down for Messi, who lofts a looping pass over the defense back to the new Barcelona signing who opts simply to volley it past Fernandez for a well-worked second goal.

Messi nearly makes it two. The little Argentine skipped past two Osasuna defenders on the edge of the area and fired a powerful left-footed shot, but it was too close to Andres Fernandez in the Osasuna goal.
