FULL-TIME: Barcelona 4-0 Getafe. A comfortable performance from Pep Guardiola's side secures victory over Getafe this evening and temporarily narrows Madrid's lead at the top of La Liga to just a single point, ahead of their derby match against Atletico tomorrow evening. The home side have now scored 165 goals this season, with the goals tonight coming from Lionel Messi, Pedro and a brace from Alexis Sanchez. Thanks for joining me for Goal.com's coverage tonight, be sure to come back tomorrow night for a Madrid derby that looks set to be a classic. Over to you Jose...
90' + 2'
And there is the final whistle. Barcelona have won this one by four goals to nil.
Two minutes of added time have been signalled.
UNBELIEVABLE PLAY FROM MESSI!! I am adamant he is the only player in the world who can do that! The move appears to have died in the corner on the left, but Messi thinks otherwise, he rescues it before it runs out, but is blocked in by two Getafe players. After shifting his body weight not once or twice but three times he drifts through them before jumping over the challenge of Diaz and lobbing the ball over Moya. Only a last-ditch clearance from Masilela stops the ball from landing on the head of Alexis Sanchez at the back post. Fabulous play.
Tello shows his electric pace inside the Getafe box by beating the right-back before swinging a cross towards Messi at the back-post. Moya is alert to the danger however, and plucks the ball from the air.
Just as I eulogise the Barca midfielder he cuts the Getafe defence wide open with a high pass to Messi on the right, he controls the ball before firing an effort at goal that Moya does well to parry to safety.
Tello glides past a couple of challenges down the left before cutting back and feeding the ball to Xavi, he swings it out to Puyol, receives the ball back, and then curls it out to Muniesa on the left. Xavi is like a puppet-master, every move goes through him as he dictates the tempo and direction of the ball. His control and influence is quite breathtaking at times.
Torres gets another vital touch to divert the ball out for a corner, just as Messi looked to dance his way through on Moya's goal. Barca take it short, before returning the ball back to Messi on the left, then his cross is desperately cleared by Cata Diaz at full-stretch.
I'd hazard a guess that the last player the Getafe defence want coming off that Barcelona bench at this point in the game is Cristian Tello. This kid is lightning. Let's see what he can do in the last ten minutes or so.
MIguel Torres clears the ball away from Messi and Sanchez as Barcelona begin to turn on the style at Camp Nou. This could get messy. No pun intended.
Those two goals came completely out of nowhere!! Barcelona had barely threatened in this second half before the third goal, and then they go and score two in as many minutes!
Yellow Card Gavilán
Assist Lionel Messi
ANOTHER GOAL AND IT'S ANOTHER HEADER!!! I wonder what the odds of two headed Barcelona goals were for this match. Messi curls a fine left-footed free-kick into the area that Pedro glances goalwards and into the back of the net. And there was me criticising their lack of impact from set pieces!!
Goal Alexis Sánchez
GOAAALLLL!!!!!! SANCHEZ GRABS HIS SECOND!!! A thumping header from the Chilean after Isaac Cuenca had dinked a perfectly-weighted ball into the area. Moya had absolutely no chance of stopping that one.
Some decent defending from Puyol brings an abrupt end to Getafe's brief spell in possession of the football, and the ball is soon back in the care of Xavi in the centre of the park.
Make a note in your scrapbooks, Getafe are in the Barcelona half. AND they have won a corner!
Cuenca then looks to force his way into the area but overruns the ball and goes crashing into a couple of challenges, eventually giving away a free-kick.
Cuenca's fierce cross-shot is tipped round the post by Moya, resulting in another corner for the home side. Another set piece amounts to nothing though, as Sanchez is pulled back for offside after the corner is played short.
Outrageous confidence from Mascherano and Puyol at the back for Barcelona as they nonchalantly play the ball out under pressure from Miku and Castro. Cool as you like from the Barcelona defenders there.
Puyol is adjudged to have climbed on the back of Perez as the ball is flighted in by Xavi. Getafe get the free-kick inside their own area.
Getafe get a rare feel for the ball in this second half, but Ruben Castro immediately surrenders possession by booting the ball straight through to Victor Valdes. That is not how they are going to get back into this game. Up the other end Barcelona win a corner...
It looks like Barcelona are going just a point behind Real Madrid tonight, as they play out this second half in cruise control. What a massive game the Madrid derby is tomorrow night!
The home side have an ambitious call for a penalty turned down by the referee after Xavi is dispossessed following some neat interplay inside the Getafe box.
A bullet header from Puyol flies miles wide of Moya's goal, after Barcelona had won a corner on the right following some fine defensive work from their midfielder-turned-defender Mascherano.
Messi overhits a pass to Xavi, as the midfielder looks to run through on goal. It's been a fairly quiet start to this second half *he says hoping there is a sudden flurry of goals*.
Getafe are struggling to get out of their own half at the moment, as Barcelona, led by the metronomic duo of Xavi and Iniesta, dictate possession inside their opponent's half.
A vital touch from Diaz steals the ball off the boot of Xavi inside the Getafe area, as Barcelona threaten to increase their lead.
A corner that sadly amounts to nothing. Barcelona have struggled to make an impact from set-pieces so far in this match, a fair few have been wasted.
Intricate play between Messi and Iniesta nearly creates a goalscoring opportunity, but the latter's looped ball is slightly too weak to find Messi inside the area and it is headed behind for a corner by Diaz.
Yellow Card Lionel Messi
Pedro has gone down off the ball holding his left forearm, but, after 30 seconds or so of wincing, he looks okay to continue!
Pedro fires a hard pass across the penalty area that has too much on it for Messi to get decent enough contact to direct towards goal, and the Argentine's header flying out for a goal-kick.
Barcelona start this half just how they finished the first, camped in Getafe's half. After some promising play from Messi, Sanchez is ruled offside by the linesman as the home side look to add a third.
We are back under way here...
The teams are making their way back out onto the pitch at Camp Nou, don't forget guys you can send me your views on the match so far and your predictions for this second half on Twitter, @charliefscott.
HALF-TIME: Barcelona 2-0 Getafe. A stunning Messi strike late in the half gives the home side some breathing space in this one after Sanchez had given them the lead after 13 minutes with a curling effort. Getafe have got a massive task on their hands to turn this match round, with the home side perhaps guilty of not scoring more than just the two goals so far. Join me in ten minutes for the second half of this matach, as Barcelona look to temporarily close the gap at the top of La Liga to just one point.
45' + 1'
And the referee blows for the end of the first half. What a time to add a second!
There is one minute of added time here...
Goal Lionel Messi
GOAAALLLLL!!!!! MESSI MAKES IT 2-0!!! Just as I was praising Getafe for limiting Barca to just one goal, they add another. For once Getafe don't get tight on Messi, and he punishes them, playing a delightful one-two with Iniesta on the edge of the area before slamming a goal into the top corner from 15 yards.
You've got to give the away side credit here, they have set out their stall well, playing a compact back four and midfield five, that have stifled Barcelona and been effective in limiting them to just the one goal so far.
Great play from Sergio Busquets there, the tall midfielder has been right at the thick of things so far tonight. On this occasion, he wins the ball, passes it on, moves into space, receives it back, before switching the play from left to right. He does the simple things brilliantly does Busquets.
Messi exchanges passes with Pedro, but misjudges the Spaniard's return ball, stepping over it inside the area, with none of his team-mates running on to it behind him.
Cuenca is seeing alot of the ball in this first half, but has struggled to get the better of Masilela so far this evening.
The tempo of the game has settled down over the course of the past few minutes, with Barcelona happy to do what they do best, passing the ball around neatly between their midfielders.
WOW, THAT IS QUITE A MISS FROM SANCHEZ!!! Why on earth hasn't he gone with his left foot there?! The ball is swept to him at the back post on the left-hand side, but with Moya out of position the goalscorer elects to try and guide the ball home with the outside of his right foot, when it would have been much easier to slot it home with his left. His effort flies wide and into the side-netting.
Pedro Rios is looking to curl the ball behind the Barcelona defence at every opportunity tonight, and a couple of his crosses have caused problems already, the most recent of which very nearly finds Castro inside Valdes' penalty area.
There's a bit of confusion in the Barca penalty area as Rios whips a free-kick in from the right, but Xavi is on hand to dispossess Miku as the striker attempts to wriggle his way through on goal.
GREAT EFFORT!!! The corner falls to Ruben Perez 25 yards out, and he fires a fine effort back towards goal that is deflected just wide of Valdes' post.
Miku gets behind the Barcelona defence for the first time this evening, but Sergio Busquets reacts quickly to snuff out the danger, but cannot stop conceding a corner.
Messi really should be scoring there, considering he's got 60 already this season!! Instead his effort from 10 yards flashes wide of Moya's left-hand post.
The Barcelona fans have just chanted Eric Abidal's name for the duration of the 22nd minute here. That's a really nice touch, as the versatile Barcelona player, who wears the number 22 shirt for the club, underwent liver surgery earlier on today. May I say that my thoughts are with him, and that all of us here at Goal wish him a full and speedy recovery.
The delivery is disappointing from Xavi though, and is headed to safety comfortably by Casquero.
Free-kick to Barcelona 35 yards out on the left...
@mathewronnie has just informed me on Twitter that Alexis Sanchez has equalled his highest goal tally in a season with that strike. His early goal here is his 12th of the season, the same number he scored for Udinese during the whole of the 2010-2011 season. Thanks for that one Mathew. Sanchez has certainly settled in to life at Camp Nou with little difficulty!
The mood that Barcelona are in tonight I don't think that that will mean much come the end of this game. They look like they fancy running up quite a scoreline in this one.
DID THAT CROSS THE LINE?!! Messi plays a sumptuous through-ball to Xavi, and he looks to have increased Barca's lead with a delicate lob, only for Diaz to rush back and hook the ball away on the goal-line. I thought that was in to be honest!
THAT'S A FANTASTIC SAVE FROM MOYA!!! Sanchez turns provider this time, slotting the ball through to Pedro who looks to find the bottom corner from the edge of the box with a well-struck shot that Moya in the Getafe goal does splendidly to keep out.
So that's 162 goals for the season for Barcelona now!
Assist Lionel Messi
Goal Alexis Sánchez
GOAAALLLLLL!!!!!! SANCHEZ SCORES FOR BARCELONA!!! And what a goal it is! A well-chested pass from Messi of all people, finds Sanchez, who pushes the ball out of his feet 20 yards from goal before curling a fine effort past Moya and into the top corner. That is fabulous technique from the Chilean.
A delightful nutmeg from Andres Iniesta creates some space down the left, Pedro returns the ball to the ethereal midfielder, who strikes an effort goalwards from the edge of the penalty area. Moya gets down well to push it round the post.
Here's a juicy statistic for you. Barca have struck 161 goals in all competitions this season, already beating the club record for most goals scored in a single campaign (158 in 2008-09).
Isaac Cuenca looks to race into the Getafe area on the right but is blocked off by some alert defending by Masilela.
Barcelona continue to squeeze Getafe high up the pitch, with Mascherano appearing to be the only player in this side with any intention of staying in his own half.
A wildly over-hit cross from Rios on the right for Getafe fails to trouble Valdes and drifts out for a goal-kick to the home side. It's been a fairly relaxed start for Guardiola's men.
The away side's top-scorer Miku nearly diverts the resulting set-piece into his own net, but Moya is there again to avert the danger. Getafe then go straight up the other end and win a corner, but the delivery is weak and Mascherano comfortably clears the ball away.
Getafe concede a corner as Barcelona exert some early pressure on the visitor's backline.
Early free-kick to Barcelona on the left. Xavi whips it in to the area, and Sergio Busquets nearly gets on the end of it, but Getafe's goalkeeper Moya reacts well to gather the ball.
30 seconds in and Barcelona have nine, yes nine, players in Getafe's half. I think there might be goals in this one!
And we are off...

Going back to that Messi stat, having had a quick look at the La Liga table, Getafe perhaps shouldn't feel too disheartened as Messi has outscored eight other teams too with his 38 goals this season! Unbelievable.
Don't forget guys, you can interact with me throughout the game by logging on to Twitter and sending your views to @charliefscott. I would love to hear from as many of you as possible during the course of tonight's action.
Here's an alarming statistic for you. The whole Getafe team would need to score five goals this evening to equal Lionel Messi's own personal tally in La Liga this season, the Argentine has outscored Barcelona's opponents tonight by 38 goals to 33. That is outrageous. What a season he is having.
Getafe are missing a host of players for this clash, with Rafa, Alberto Lopo and Pedro Leon all unavailable for selection due to injury. Defender Mane also misses out for Luis Garcia's side as he serves a suspension.
Guardiola has named an extremely attack-minded line-up this evening with the quartet of Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez, Isaac Cuenca and Pedro all starting for the home side. There are changes at the back for Pep's side though, as Gerard Pique and Dani Alves continue to recover from injuries. Eric Abidal also begins his lengthy lay-off after undergoing liver surgery today, and it means Barcelona start with just three at the back; Carles Puyol, Javier Mascherano and Adriano.
Subs: Codina, Arroyo, Valera, Lacen, Gavilan, Barrada, Guiza.
Getafe (4-2-3-1): Moya; Torres, Diaz, Alexis, Masilela; Casquero, Perez; Rios, Rodriguez, Castro; Miku.
Subs: Pinto, Montoya, Muniesa, Barta, Keita, Thiago, Tello.
Barcelona (3-4-3): Valdes; Puyol, Mascherano, Adriano; Cuenca, Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta; Sanchez, Messi, Pedro.
Here are tonight's lineups:
Good evening ladies and gentleman and welcome to Goal.com's coverage of tonight's La Liga clash between Barcelona and Getafe at Camp Nou. I'm Charlie Scott and I'll be guiding you through tonight's action. Barcelona come into this game brimming with confidence having watched their rivals Real Madrid drop more points at the weekend, with the gap between the two now at just four points, with a Clasico still to play before the end of the season. Should Barcelona win tonight, that gap will close to just a single point ahead of the Madrid derby tomorrow night. Getafe meanwhile, start the match in 10th place in La Liga, but are only one point behind sixth-placed Osasuna, having won four of their last six games in the league.
