Barcelona win Aggregate 7 - 0
That's all from me for tonight ladies and gentlemen. What a game! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Good night!
Barcelona will face Malaga in the next round of the Copa del Rey, after winning this tie against Cordoba 7-0 on aggregate.
FULL-TIME: BARCELONA 5-0 CORDOBA (7-0 AGG) Stand-in Barca coach Jordi Roura oversaw a comfortable victory at Camp Nou this evening, as their Segunda Division opponents failed to show the same desire as they did in the first leg back in December. Thiago opened the scoring with a neat finish in the first half, before David Villa scored two fine goals before the break. Alexis Sanchez then struck twice after the interval to add a deserved gloss to Barcelona's win.
90' + 3'
And there is the final whistle! Barcelona 5-0 Cordoba.
90' + 2'
Cordoba are appealing for a penalty after a brash challenge from Montoya on Pedro Sanchez but the referee sees nothing in it and urges play to continue.
The fourth official signals for two minutes of added time.
The home side are passing the ball around tidily in the final minutes of this match. 5-0 they lead on the night, which makes it 7-0 on aggregate. It's been a very confident performance against their lower league opponents tonight.
Barcelona have two players in search of a hat-trick now, with both Sanchez and Villa on two for the evening. The former looks to be in on goal to seal his, only for the linesman on the far side to lift his flag and pull play back.
Goal Alexis Sánchez
5-0 TO BARCELONA!! Sanchez bundles the ball home from close range to increase the Blaugrana's lead after Saizar had done well to stop Tello's low shot from the left.
SO NEARLY BRILLIANT FROM SANCHEZ!! The Chile international goes off on a Messi-esque run, controlling a pass from the skies before jinxing past Saizar only to then lose his footing as he tried to stroke the ball into the empty net.
WHAT A SHOT FROM THIAGO!! Just as I give him my vote for Man of the Match he sends a dipping effort onto the roof of the net after a couple of neat passes with Tello. That was nearly his second and Barcelona's fifth!
I want to hear who you all think has been Man of the Match tonight. Send your nominations to me over on Twitter at @charliefscott. My vote goes to Thiago - I think he has been exceptional for Barcelona in midfield this evening.
A deflected cross from Alves very nearly loops under the crossbar, but for a timely catch from the Cordoba goalkeeper Saizar. Barcelona appeal that the ball crossed the line, but that wasn't even close!
Pedro Sanchez's delivery is not as good as his one a few minutes ago though, and Pinto is able to punch the ball clear under pressure from Rennella at the near post.
Rennella turns and shoots 20 yards from Pinto's goal, and his strike took a slight deflection off Mascherano which means Cordoba have another corner from which to test Barcelona.
Villa has pulled up on the near side clutching his leg, but after a chat with the Barcelona bench appears fit to continue. I'll keep an eye on that, he looked in a fair amount of pain.
Pedro Sanchez curls the corner into the six-yard box and Pinto struggles to push the ball away. It falls at the feet of Rennella but as he shapes to shoot the referee blows his whistle for an apparent foul on Pinto when the initial ball was played in. I'm not sure about that one to be honest.
Cordoba win a corner on the left after Alves steals the ball from Fuentes with a sliding challenge.
Haha, and there's a good effort from Dos Santos! Just as I planned. The substitute sends a low drive a couple of yards wide of Saizar's right-hand post after finding a pocket of space 30 yards from goal.
A flamboyant looping pass from Thiago towards Tello is intercepted well by Fuentes as Barcelona try one pass too many on the edge of the Cordoba penalty area.
Jonathan Dos Santos has shown the good and bad sides to his game in the last few minutes. He's passed the ball efficiently since coming on as a sub for Sergi Roberto, but then just fired a shot high and wide from 25 yards. I'll say 'stick to the passing Jonathan', in an attempt to coax a wonder goal out of him...
Montoya makes his way into the referee's notebook after a tug on the shirt of Pedro as the Cordoba forward tried to push forward with the ball in the middle of the pitch.
Yellow Card Montoya
A good diving punch from Saizar stops the ball from reaching Villa on the penalty spot after Sanchez had beaten Fuentes on the right and whipped an inviting cross into the middle.
SAVE FROM PINTO!! That was Cordoba's best chance of the game! Only a smart stop from the Barcelona goalkeeper stopped Pedro Sanchez from scoring after the substitute had raced through on goal on the right.
Mascherano concedes a free kick on the left but Cordoba continue to struggle against Barcelona's organised defence, and the lofted set piece from Sanchez is nodded away by Bartra.
Yellow Card Javier Mascherano
WHAT A MISS FROM VILLA!! The striker skies an easy chance high over the bar from 10 yards after being set up by Sanchez. What an opportunity that was to complete his hat-trick!
Cordoba's two best players in the first leg have failed to have an impact tonight. Fede Vico was hauled off at the break and now Sebastien Dubarbier has also been withdrawn. Pedro Sanchez is the man who replaces the Argentine.
The referee wins possession for Cordoba (yes, really) in the centre of the pitch and ball is moved out to Dubarbier on the left. He sends a cross towards Joselu in the Barcelona box but Mascherano is there to head the ball away from danger to Song.
He will be absolutely delighted to have got that goal, Alexis Sanchez. It will increase his confidence hugely, after a string of patchy performances in front of goal.
Goal Alexis Sánchez
I should shut up... SANCHEZ MAKES IT 4-0!!! FROM A HEADER! The forward beats Fuentes in the air at the back post to connect with Thiago's corner and bury a header past Saizar.
SANCHEZ SHOULD HAVE SCORED THERE!! He's looked low on confidence recently and he really should have hit the back of the net just now. Sanchez poked the ball round Saizar after the goalkeeper had sprinted out of his area to close the attacker down, but then with the goal at his mercy the ex-Udinese man shot wide from 20 yards.
Jonathan Dos Santos
Roberto has pulled up with an injury, and despite the Camp Nou crowd chanting 'Meeesssii!! Meeeeesssii!!', Jonathan Dos Santos is the man introduced. That is Barcelona's final change of the evening.
Barcelona's other sub, Bartra, gets the benefit of the doubt from the referee after he ducks to clear the ball with his head and is caught by the not-very-high foot of Joselu. The ref awards a free kick though, much to Bartra's relief as Cordoba had threatened to break.
Tello's first involvement of the game is to dribble into the box on the right. Fuentes does well to shepherd the ball out for a goal kick though, after the Barca youngster overcooked one of his touches as he tried to get a cross in.
I'm sad to see Vico be taken off for the away side - he was superb in the first leg.
The home side have made a couple of changes at the break, and there's no sign of their Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi yet, as Cristian Tello and Marc Bartra have come on for Carlos Puyol and Cesc Fabregas. Cordoba have also made a switch, with Fede Vico making way for Abel.
Barcelona leading 5-0 on aggregate at the moment. Somehow, I can't see Cordoba getting back into this tie.
Cordoba get the ball rolling at the start of the second half...
Join me in 10 minutes for the second half of this Copa del Rey clash! I am going to go out on a limb and promise more goals.
HALF-TIME: BARCELONA 3-0 CORDOBA The home side have been rampant in the opening 45 minutes, and lead by three goals thanks to a double from David Villa, and a further strike from Thiago. The midfielder notched his first of the season to make it 1-0 with a calm finish in the 17th minute, before Villa struck two brilliant goals in quick succession. Thiago then hit the post as Barcelona continued to threaten. Cordoba haven't won in nine games, and that shows. They have been poor tonight, albeit against a very good side.
45' + 1'
And there is the whistle to mark the end of the half!
As we approach half-time Cordoba are looking shell-shocked. This first half has been all about Barcelona, as they have dominated possession and chances created.
Sanchez loses his footing at the vital moment as Barcelona look set to make it 4-0! Fabregas does well to cut back on to his right and play a pass towards Sanchez after driving down the left, but the Chilean slips as he goes to control the ball and Cordoba manage to steal back possession.
OH THE AUDACITY!! Fabregas man tries his luck from 45 yards with Saizar backtracking, but the Cordoba goalkeeper just manages to rush back and stop the ball from crossing the line. That would have been some goal from the former Arsenal man!
CORDOBA FASHION A CHANCE!! Dubarbier curls a cross onto the head of Joselu, who was lurking inside the Barca box. The striker's effort takes a touch off Puyol and loops behind for a corner kick.
Sanchez tries a couple too many stepovers on the right side of the Cordoba box and ends up tripping himself up and pushing the ball out for a goal kick to the visitors. He appeals for a penalty in order to hide his embarrassment, but the referee waves away his hopeful claim.
@Moh_daj is the winner of that first-half teaser. He correctly answered my extremely puzzling question, 'Who is ahead of David Villa as Barcelona's top scorer this season?', with Lionel Messi. Which is of course right. Congratulations!
ANOTHER CHANCE FOR BARCA!! Montoya marauds down the left before cutting the ball back well to Villa inside the Cordoba box. Villa's shot is blocked by Armando though, and Montoya is just beaten to the rebound by Fernandez, who hacks the ball away to relieve the pressure on his side.
THIAGO HITS THE POST!! The midfielder nearly scores again with a curling shot from 18 yards, only for his effort to crash off the upright and be cleared away by Juan Fuentes, the Cordoba left-back.
Barcelona are cutting through the Cordoba defence with ease every time they push forward at the moment. Villa, Sanchez and Fabregas are all on the same wavelength, while Sergi Roberto and Alex Song are making some penetrating runs from midfield.
A virtual high-five for the first correct answer.
Villa's second this evening was his ninth of the campaign so far, which makes him Barcelona's second-highest scorer behind who? Send your guesses to @charliefscott...
It's been quite a start from the home side here at Camp Nou, they have controlled the match. They scored four in the first half against Espanyol at the weekend, and they are on course to do the same again!
Goal David Villa
VILLA SMASHES HOME A SECOND GOAL!! 3-0 TO BARCELONA! The 31-year-old hammers a shot into the back of the net in off the post, after being teed up by a neat touch from Sergi Roberto. Villa is on fire tonight!
That set piece amounts to nothing though. After the initial cross is cleared away Armando is then flagged offside as Garai hooked the ball back into the box.
Just as I say that, Cordoba win a free kick just outside the Barca box on the left...
Goal David Villa
VILLA DOES MAKE IT 2-0!! A WONDERFUL GOAL!! The striker dribbles past a couple of challenges brilliantly on the left-hand side of the Cordoba box before dinking a fine shot past Saizar and into the far corner. That was a superb passage of play from the former Valencia man. The away side are sinking without trace here.
SANCHEZ SHOULD MAKE IT 2-0!! The Chile international attempts a lob over Saizar after racing on to Song's through ball but the Cordoba goalkeeper is equal to it.
The visitors get the ball in Barcelona's half, but after successfully winning a throw on the left they waste the chance to get the ball into the box and it is hoofed away by Alves.
Well, you can't say that wasn't coming! Barcelona have dominated here, and now deservedly lead through their 21-year-old midfielder Thiago.
Goal Thiago Alcántara
GOALLL!!! THIAGO OPENS THE SCORING FOR BARCA! The Blaugrana's extended pressure finally counts as Thiago slots the ball past Saizar after driving forward into the Cordoba box. 1-0 to Barcelona!
The home side counter quickly and win a throw deep in Cordoba's half, after Rafa Berges' team had a cross cleared by Carlos Puyol.
Cordoba have barely touched the ball in the opening quarter of an hour here. They will need the likes of Fede Vico and Sebastien Dubarbier to step up tonight if they wish to challenge Barcelona's 2-0 advantage from the first leg. Both looked superb in that first leg, and were unfortunate not to score on a couple of occasions.
ANOTHER SAVE FROM SAIZAR!! Roberto plays a fine pass into the path of Fabregas on the left side of the penalty area, and he attempts to curl the ball into the bottom right corner only for Saizar to stand firm and block the shot. That's a good stop from the Cordoba goalkeeper!
Lopez Silva catches Roberto and Barcelona have a free kick just inside the Cordoba half. Again they choose to play the ball backwards rather than forwards though!
Thiago and Roberto work the ball neatly in midfield before the latter slips it out to Montoya on the left. The ball somehow then finds its way out to Alves on the right, but his swinging cross is dealt with easily by Cordoba's centre-back Armando.
Dani Alves appears to be playing as an auxiliary forward here for Barca, and has already got to the byline twice as the home side look to convert their early pressure into a goal.
ARGH! The Catalan side can be frustrating with their corners sometimes! They play it short on this occasion and end up playing it all the way back to Javier Mascherano on the halfway line. Where's the fun in that?
Barca have another corner after Aguilar heads Sergi Roberto's probing pass behind under pressure from Sanchez.
The set piece is swung to the edge of the penalty area, where it eventually falls to Thiago. The midfielder shifts the ball on to his left foot before firing a shot at goal that Saizar is able to parry and then gather comfortably.
SAIZAR SAVES FROM ALEXIS!! The Cordoba goalkeeper comes off his line quickly to stifle the threat of the Chilean forward as he bears down on goal. The ball is deflected away, but the danger is not over as it goes out for a corner to the home side.
Martin Montoya, playing at left-back for Barcelona, is forced into some defending early on as Joselu chases a hopeful punt on the right for the visitors. The youngster does well to win a throw off the legs of the attacker though.
We are underway here in Barcelona!
The teams are out here at Camp Nou, and the Cordoba XI have just posed for a picture, and who can blame them? What a night this will be for their players, playing against one of the best teams in the world!
Right guys and girls, I want to hear your score predictions for the match tonight, so send them over to me on Twitter at @charliefscott. I think there will be LOTS of goals, even without 91-in-2012-Messi.
There will be no Tito Vilanova in the Barcelona dugout at Camp Nou this evening, by the way, as he travels to New York to see a specialist regarding his recent illness. His assistant Jordi Roura will deputise.
Subs: Garcia, Abel, Patino, Pedro, Kiko, Rennella, Cristian
Cordoba (4-4-2): Saizar; Fernandez, Armando, Aguilar, Fuentes; Silva, Garai, Caballero, Dubarbier; Joselu, Vico
Subs: Valdes, Alba, Busquets, Bartra, Dos Santos, Tello, Messi
Barcelona (4-3-3): Pinto; Alves, Puyol, Mascherano, Montoya; Sergi Roberto, Song, Thiago; Cesc, Villa, Alexis
I've teased you with a few names, so how about the whole Barcelona team? And Cordoba's too!
Barcelona won the first leg 2-0 thanks to an impressive double from Lionel Messi, yet the Argentine, who is fresh from winning the Ballon d'Or for a record fourth time on Monday, is only named as a substitute this evening. There's still plenty of cause for excitement in the Blaugrana's starting XI though, as supposed Premier League target David Villa has a chance to impress his suitors, while Masia graduates Martin Montoya, Thiago and Sergi Robertos are also given opportunities to shine against lower league opposition.
My name is Charlie Scott, and I'm the person in charge of bringing you snippets of colour and insight on the match as it unfolds over in Spain. As always you can get in touch with me at any point during the game via Twitter, by hurling your views over to @charliefscott.
