Had a good game much like his opposite number. Valencia never really troubled his goal but whenever the ball came into his area he was decisive and dominant. Solid performance.
The Brazilian defended excellently throughout the match and did not award Pablo anything down his left wing. Attacking was slightly more reserved than usual but this was typical of a very cagey match.
Had a fairly solid game up until a nasty collision with Courtois 10 minutes after the break resulted in him being substituted. The Argentine was down in the box for a few minutes after the Atletico goalkeeper smashed into his upper body when coming to claim a ball.
Probably thought he had his work cut out, expecting the strong runs of Mathieu and Alba down the left, but handled himself well and contributed to the solid Atletico defensive unit. Did not get forward as much as he would have liked, though.
Was a commanding performance form the center back this evening. Neither Soldado nor Aduriz were able to affect the game due to the tight marking of the Brazilian. Got through the game without a hitch despite a change of partner in defence.
David Albelda was on the case of the Brazilian for much of the match which stopped him from picking out passes to Falcao and the other attackers. Did come close to scoring when he managed to find space outside the box on one occasion to drive a strike at goal that was well saved by Diego Alves.
Did not offer anything to his side during his time on the pitch. Delivery was poor from the left and he was unable to get the better of Miguel which in turn hampered Falcao's ability to convert possible chances. Was eventually substituted for Salvio.
Suffered much the same as his midfield teammate. Passing was neat enough but sat far too deep which created too big a space between the midfield and Diego. However, contributed to the hustle and bustle of the midfield battle.
The game was very much a midfield battle which does not suit Tiago's game. Did not benefit from the intense pressing of Valencia at times which ultimately affected his ability to get the ball down and generate play from the midfield.
Was possibly going into the match anticipating a lot of space to run into down the right. However, Mathieu stayed back mostly which provided a fairly solid barrier to break down. Much like Arda, his delivery into the box was not good enough. Did manage to test Alves with a glancing header in the opening 10 minutes which was well saved.
Squandered the best chance of the match when he cut inside form the right and had two close-range strikes at goal that were blocked by Rami. Was not lacking in any determination and tried his heart out for his side, but was let down by the lack of supply from his team-mates.
Was arguably Valencia's standout performer on the night. Had to deal with a number of well-struck attempts on the edge of the box, which he saved expertly. The pick of the bunch coming from a powerful Diego shot from 18 yards that was parried round the post. Also commanded his area excellently with well-timed punches.
Has been a revelation at times this season with his powerful runs down the left-hand side. However, in this match his creative license was low due to the sheer lack of space on the park. Did not get forward on the overlap as much as usual and so Valencia lacked decent service into the box.
Arda Turan did not have a sniff all night and this was mainly due to a solid performance from the Portuguese at right back. Displayed excellent strength to hold off the Turk and did not leave any space behind him for the opposition to operate.
Made two world-class blocks from Falcao in the second half, including a heroic block on the line from a point-blank shot from the Colombian. Tackling was well-timed and solid throughout the match.
Did not benefit from the game being so tight and so was unable to effectively utilise the overlap down the left with Mathieu. Arguably should have given his side the lead in the 74th minute when he lashed a shot wide of the mark from a good position inside the box.
Communication between the two Valencia center backs was top class all night, with Falcao being marked fairly tightly throughout the match. Ruiz was the more adventurous of the two but was lucky not to give the ball away in midfield with a few marauding runs forward. Was dominant in the air.
Was anonymous for the majority of the match and was not given time on the ball from Filipe down the flank. When he did get possession it was laboured and his delivery into the box was sub-par.
Was brought into the center of midfield and was expected to take over Ever Banega's play-making role but did not use possession effectively. Spent most of his time next to Albelda and did not create enough from deeper positions.
Was guilty of being slightly ponderous in possession at times when counterattacks looked to be in the offing for Valencia. However, did his job well for the side and tightened the space in front of his defence, which left Diego no room to affect the game.
Was not strong enough on the ball and on the rare occasions he found space between the midfield and strike force, he was slightly wasteful in possession. Could not find that elusive killer pass to Soldado and was substituted 20 minutes from time for Jonas.
Struggled terribly to find any kind of space to sniff out a chance inside the box. Was marshalled effectively by the Atletico defenders and showed signs of frustration in the second half. Was taken off just after the hour mark for Aduriz.
