  • And a final update from Josh Clarke who's at the Emirates: Full time here at the Emirates and Arsenal have ran out 6-1 victors against Coventry. The Gunners were rampant in the second half, with Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arshavin, Miquel all chalking up fine efforts on top of a Walcott double. Wenger may be disappointed with the loss of a clean sheet but, overall, this was a display that demonstrated the depth of the Gunners’ attacking options.
  • 90' + 2'
And that's full-time at the Emirates. After struggling to find the final ball in the early stages of the match, Arsenal have strolled in the second half over their League One opponents.
  • 90'
    Goal Theo Walcott
And Walcott adds his second of the match. Again, the winger has the beating of his full-back before he unleashes a curling effort from the left flank into the top-right corner beyond Murphy in the Coventry goal.
  • 86'
Frimpong gets on the ball in the middle but his through ball to Walcott is overcooked and Murphy gathers with ease.
  • 84'
Another chance for Arsenal goes begging as Walcott races onto Chamakh's flick but the winger's effort hits the side-netting from a narrow angle.
  • 82'
The match has opened up and following Clarke's missed chance for Coventry, Arshavin sees a left-footed shot fly wide of Murphy's post.
  • 80'
    Goal Miquel
End to end stuff and Arsenal respond immediately as Miquel meets Arshavin's cross with a fine header.
  • 78'
    Goal Callum Ball
Coventry grab a consolation and it was always likely that Baker would have something to do with it. The winger's cross is met in the box by Ball who finishes neatly.
  • 74'
    Goal Theo Walcott
Another superb goal, this time coming from Walcott. The winger showed excellent pace on the right flank and after cutting inside, he lashes the ball beyond Murphy to the far post.

    SubstitutionAlex Oxlade-Chamberlain Serge Gnabry
  • 72'
    SubstitutionOlivier Giroud Marouane Chamakh
  • 72'
    SubstitutionFrancis Coquelin Emmanuel Frimpong
Frimpong is welcomed with a loud cheer as he trots on as a substitute. The midfielder has been sidelined for seven months with a knee injury
  • 69'
    SubstitutionStephen Elliott Callum Ball
  • 68'
Coventry catch Arsenal on the counter and with numbers storming forward, McSheffrey decides to go it alone and blazes his effort from outside of the box over the bar. Should have done better.
  • 66'
Arsenal are in the mood for a fourth and the influential Coquelin feeds Walcott whose shot is deflected wide for a corner.
  • 63'
    Goal Andrey Arshavin
It's a third from the Arsenal and this one is arguably the pick of a decent bunch. Arsenal sweep forward, with Giroud feeding a lofted pass into the path of Arshavin, who plucks the ball out of the air and pokes beyond Murphy.
  • 61'
Oxlade-Chamberlain attempts another screamer from around the same distance of his goal but Murphy saves well.
  • 60'
    SubstitutionFranck Moussa John Fleck
  • 57'
    Goal Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
What a superb goal from Oxlade-Chamberlain. After playing a one-two with Santos, the midfielder smashes a 25-yard effort towards goal which leaves Murphy stranded.
  • 55'
Walcott receives Coquelin's and hits a shot from outside the area but the effort is saved by Murphy.
  • 53'
Coventry have their first chance after the restart as Hussey heads Baker's free-kick into the ground and over the bar.
  • 49'
    Yellow Card Reece Brown
  • 49'
Not such a dream start for Giroud after all. The Frenchman sees his rather weak effort to the left of the goal parried round the post by Murphy.
  • 49'
    Giroud steps up....PENALTY SAVED
  • 48'
Coquelin's lofted ball into the box is headed backwards by Clarke, but it falls short which allows Arshavin to nip in and draw a foul from the defender.
  • 48'
  • 46'
And Coventry get us back underway for the second half at the Emirates.
  • Another quick update from Josh Clarke at the Emirates: It's just been revealed at the Emirates, to disbelieving ears, that Arsenal Women have tonked Barcelona 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League round of 32 over in Spain. Truly a parallel universe.
  • This in from Josh Clarke at the Emirates: Half-time at the Emirates, with Giroud's first goal for the club settlig nerves both on and off the pitch at the Emirates. The Frenchman's lofted finish was the defining moment of the first half but Arsenal have been carried at times by Coquelin's steel and Andrey Arshavin's silk in the middle. The Gunners have grown in confidence after the goal and I'd expect to see more of the same after the interval
  • 45'
And the referee blows for half-time. Arsenal lead 1-0 courtesy of Giroud's first goal for the club.
  • 43'
Arsenal are on top again as Giroud's flick from Walcott's free-kick is met by Miquel but the Spaniard's acrobatic overhead kick is narrowly wide.
  • 41'
Giroud goes close to adding his second as he races onto Walcott's through pass. Murphy gets to the ball before the Frenchman though.
  • 39'
    Goal Olivier Giroud
Giroud breaks his Arsenal goal duck and it's with a classy finish. Arsharvin starts off a flowing move that is continued by Coquelin's determined lunge and poke though on goal. Giroud still has plenty to do after being put through on goal mind and he dinks the ball beautifully over the onrushing keeper with his left foot
  • 35'
Djourou goes close for Arsenal as the defender controls a pass from Coquelin and hits a shot which forces a good save from Murphy. The hosts are starting to up the pressure.
  • 31'
Coventry are on the attack again and McSheffrey's cross finds Bailey but his weak header is comfortably saved by Martinez.
  • 29'
Arsenal go close again but the final ball is lacking for Wenger's men. Miquel overhits a cross with both Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain waiting in the centre for the delivery.
  • 27'
Coventry have shown glimmers of threat so far and Baker's neat ball in is caught well by Martinez.
  • 24'
Arshavin continues to influence and the Russian's low cross only just eludes Djourou in the box. Arsenal are stepping up a gear.
  • 21'
Arshavin attempts a chipped pass to Walcott but the bounce sees the ball escape the England international and the chance goes.
  • 17'
A neat through ball by Coquelin finds Arshavin, who finds Miquel on the edge of the box. Miquel looks to fire a shot but Barton intercepts.
  • 14'
This in from Josh Clarke at the Emirates: Not the most convincing of starts for the Gunners against a side who, it most be remember, were relegated from the Championship last year and are almost at the bottom of the pile of League One. Nico Yannaris and Francis Coquelin have had a few dodgy touches in the middle of the park and this uncertainy has seeped through the rest of the team. Little from Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Andrey Arshavin thus far.
  • 10'
The ball is played through to Giroud but the Frenchman is flagged offside.
  • 5'
It's been a timid start from both sides so far but City have had their first sniff at goal as Eliliott heads wide from Reckford's cross.
  • 1'
And we're underway at the Emirates...
  • Emmanuel Frimpong is also named among the substitutes for Arsenal as he steps up his recovery from a knee injury which has kept him on the sidelines for seven months.
  • Quite a selection from Arsene Wenger who has handed Damian Martinez and Martin Angha their senior debuts.
  • Coventry City: Murphy; Clarke, Wood, Brown, Reckford; Baker, Barton, Bailey, Moussa, McSheffrey; Elliott. Subs: Dunn, Hussey, McDonald, Fleck, Ball, Edjenduele, Daniels
  • Arsenal: Martinez; Miquel, Djourou, Angha, Yennaris, Santos, Coquelin, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Arshavin, Giroud Subs: Shea, Squillaci, Bellerin, Frimpong, Eisfeld, Gnabry, Chamakh
