Live Commentary

  • Interim coach Collin Miller giving his players a team talk in the middle of the field. Canada will take on the USA on Tuesday. They'll have to be a lot better than they were today.
  • The referee whistles for full time! Denmark beat Canada comfortably by a score of 4-0. Cornelius with the hat-trick. Lots of work to be done for the Reds. Lots.

Canada's subs trying to stir things up a little in the game, but to no avail so far. Denmark looking very comfortable and not in any rush to add to their tally.

    Goal Andreas Cornelius
Goal for Denmark! And its Cornelius with the hat-trick and he's subsequently subbed off. A productive day at the office for the Dane. Its now 4-0 for Denmark.

Canada still not much of a threat going forward, but they're looking a lot more organized defensively than they did in the first half.

Simon Thomas, who came on for Hirschfeld in goal at halftime, makes an important save from a long distance strike. That's his first save of the half. He'll probably have much more to deal with the way this is going.

    SubstitutionM. Silberbauer Mads Winther Albæk

Pattern of play is still very much the same as in the second half: Denmark dictating terms.

    Second half is underway!
  • Referee blows the whistle for halftime and Denmark goes into the break leading Canada 3-0. All the chances and possession have gone Denmark's way and they're making it look very easy. Its all about damage limitation in the second half for the Reds.
  • 42'
Another good chance for Denmark goes begging. It's Rommedahl again, and his shot from a difficult angle is parried well by Hirschfeld.
  • 40'
Can already see there's plenty of tired legs out there on the Canadian side. Danes look a lot sharper. That's what you get for calling up players that aren't playing much for their club team.
  • 35'
    Goal Andreas Cornelius
Goal for Denmark! This time from the corner. Okore hits the crossbar from Lorentzen's corner and Cornelius slots home the rebound. That's his second of the game and the Danes now lead 3-0.
  • 20'
Denmark in complete control of this one. Knocking the ball about freely. Canada with very few ideas going forward and very fragile defensively.
  • 11'
    Assist Nicolai Jörgensen
  • 11'
    Goal K. Lorentzen
  • 11'
Goal for Denmark! Its already getting ugly for Canada. Jorgensen plays a nifty through pass to Lorentzen who finds himself all alone with Hirschfeld and slides it home with ease. 2-0 for the Danes.
  • 8'
    Assist Dennis Rommedahl
  • 8'
    Goal Andreas Cornelius
Goal for Denmark! Rommedahl finds space on Canada's left hand side, puts in a nice floating cross into the box and Cornelius heads it past Hirschfeld into the bottom corner. Not a good start for Canada.
  • 3'
First good chance goes Canada's way as the ball falls nicely for De Rosario whose shot from the top of the box is deflected wide.
  • 1'
And we're off! Canada kicks off left to right!
  • Players are now making their way onto the field. Anthems and then kick off.
  • Denmark Starting XI: Rasmussen, Stadsgaard, Silberbauer, Kirekeskov, Jacobsen, Rommedahl, Okore, Lorentzen, Jorgensen, Sloth, Cornelius.
  • Canada Starting XI: Hirschfeld, Henry, Attakora, Jakovic, Morgan, Ledgerwood, Bekker, Dunfield, Teibert, De Rosario, Ricketts.
  • Demark have also called up a host of young internationals as well as players from the Danish Superliga, which is presently in the offseason.
  • Canada’s last outing was against Honduras in World Cup Qualifying where the Reds were embarrassingly pummeled 8-1 and subsequently knocked out of Qualification. Not surprisingly, interim coach Collin Miller has called up a very different - largely youthful and untested - roster for this friendly with Denmark.
  • Good afternoon and welcome to’s live commentary of today’s friendly matchup between Canada and Denmark. I’m Nick Sabetti and I’ll be guiding you through all the action.
