Two second-half headers from Raul Jimenez settled the Super Clasico, as Club America ran away with a 2-0 win over 10-man Chivas at the Estadio Omnilife.

The teams came out with all the intensity expected from a Super Clasico. The first half featured seven yellow cards, one red card, and a number of nasty-looking challenges.

Chivas right back Sergio Perez saw yellow within the game's opening moments, and he wouldn't even last until halftime. In the 35th minute, he had his arms draped around Christian Benítez as the striker chased a bouncing ball, which drew a second yellow.

If the red wasn't bad enough, the home side was ravaged by injuries in the opening half, which forced two substitutions. First, Jorge Enriquez had to withdraw because of a knee injury and 10 minutes later, Hector Reynoso came off with a hamstring injury that had been bothering him before the game.

Wounded and down a man, halftime couldn't have come sooner for Chivas. Unfortunately, things were about to go from bad to worse.

Marco Fabian, who had initially been injured in the first half, had to finally withdraw in the opening minutes of the second stanza. And minutes later, the home side was behind.

After a short corner, Osvaldo Martínez hit a cross and Jimenez rose well to head across his body into the far post. The 21-year-old Mexico international wasn't done on the evening either.

With 15 minutes to play, Jimenez put the game away. Rubens Sambueza worked his way down the left flank, and his cross was met by Jimenez, who charged in front of his marker. His header was nearly saved by Michel, but he could only get a hand on it, and the ball hit the post and trickled in.
