Herculez Gomez scored his eighth goal of the season against Atlante on Saturday. A few minutes before half time, the American international took a free kick from 35 yards that bounced on its way past the goalkeeper into the corner.
Gomez now has three goals in the last two league games.
Oribe Peralta scored the winner on the hour mark, and Esteban Paredes notched a late consolation for Atlante.
Santos Laguna moved up to fourth in Liga MX with the 2-1 win.
