World Cup Qualifying Preview: USA - Costa Rica
Without a point in the Hex and fresh off inquisitions into Jurgen Klinsmann's communication with the players, the United States hosts Costa Rica in World Cup qualifying.

| DID YOU KNOW? |
- This is the second match of the Hexagonal for each team. The United States lost its opener away to Honduras. Costa Rica came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Panama.
- Three days after this match, the Yanks travel to Azteca to take on Mexico. Costa Rica hosts Jamaica.
- Injuries have ravaged the U.S. depth for Jurgen Klinsmann. Edgar Castillo (facial fractures), Timmy Chandler (hamstring), Steve Cherundolo (knee), Tim Howard (back), Fabian Johnson (hip), Jonathan Spector (ankle), Jose Torres (hamstring) and Danny Williams (illness) will all miss out.
- Aside from Clarence Goodson (34 international appearances), the remaining five U.S. defenders have 19 caps among them.
- Klinsmann dropped captain Carlos Bocanegra (110 caps) from the roster after benching him against Honduras. "The reason he’s not here is because he’s simply not playing," Klinsmann said. "He’s not getting any minutes with Racing Santander in the second division in Spain, so he has no flow, he has no rhythm, and he understands the situation. Carlos is still in our picture."
- Michael Bradley, Dempsey, Maurice Edu and Graham Zusi will be suspended with one more yellow card.
