D.C. United scored a late consolation goal but it wasn't enough to keep Houston from going through to the final.

For the second straight season, the Houston Dynamo are heading to MLS Cup. Dominic Kinnear's men sealed the Eastern Conference title with a 1-1 draw against D.C. United at a sold-out RFK Stadium, advancing 4-2 on aggregate.

D.C. started the match on the front foot, knowing it needed two goals to level the tie. Houston, though, was up for the task and defended admirably, as Bobby Boswell and Jermaine Taylor helped control the center of defense.

Midway through the second half, Houston grabbed a killer goal to nearly put the series out of reach. Brad Davis dribbled through United's back line and teed up Boniek Garcia, who made no mistake and blasted home from close range.

With 30 minutes to play, D.C. used its final sub to bring on Dwayne De Rosario, who made his first appearance since a knee injury in mid-September.

United had a few golden chances to get back into the game, but Hamdi Salihi let two quality chances go by without even a shot, and then Maicon Santos headed well over from only eight yards away.

The home side was given a small glimmer of hope in the 83rd minute, when Branko Boskovic pushed through the Houston defense after a neat one-two and beat Tally Hall low at his near post. In the end though, two more goals were too big of an ask for United, as its season came to an end.
