  Pinned back for large spells as Spain dominated possession, the Krasnodar defender had his hands full with Silva, as the Manchester City attacker caused all sorts of problems for the home side. The centre-back gifted Spain their fourth goal, as he was caught cheaply in possession by Fabregas, who then fed Pedro for his hat-trick.

  The BATE Borisov defender deflected Fabregas' early effort on to the post to keep the scores level, and was dominant in the air throughout the match, but had his lack of mobility exposed more than once as Spain's attack threatened repeatedly. Caught Silva with a horrible challenge late in the first half, that could have resulted in a yellow card.

  Failed to intercept Silva's pass to Pedro that resulted in Spain's second goal, and like Filipenko could not deal with the quick, neat passing of Spain's midfield and attack.

  The midfielder looked shaky against a dominant Spain midfield, and was guilty of misplacing a number of passes as his side failed to get a hold of the ball during the match. Fired a speculative effort at goal late in the first half, that never looked like troubling Casillas in the Spain goal.

  The Dinamo Minsk defender was caught out of position as Spain dissected the Belarus backline with ease tonight, and his performance was summed up when he was nutmegged by Silva in the 40th minute as Spain came within inches of taking a three-goal lead into the break.

  The former Barcelona attacker was his side's most prominent threat during the match, but although he was confident in possession and looked to bring his team-mates into play throughout, he could have little effect on the final score as Spain dominated the match.

  The attacker wasted a fine chance to hit Spain on the break when he misplaced his through-ball to Hleb in the 8th minute, with the score at the time still 0-0. He ran himself into the ground during his time on the pitch, but failed to create any clear goalscoring opportunities, and was replaced by Bressan in the second half.

  The Barcelona attacker nearly scored within the opening 90 seconds of the match, but could only watch agonisingly as his effort from a tight angle deflected off Filipenko and on to the post. Late in the half he had another opportunity to get his name on the scoresheet, but could not quite get on the end of Silva's driven pass from the right-hand side. He did well to tackle Martynovich and set up Pedro for his hat-trick late in the game as Spain looked dangerous every time they attacked.

  The 26-year-old started the match superbly, dissecting the Belarus defence with a sliding pass to Fabregas, who then hit the post. The Manchester City attacker then missed a glorious chance to open the scoring in the fourth minute, but made amends by providing a fine assist to Pedro for the second goal, as Spain went 2-0 up midway through the first half. Set Fabregas up in the 40th minute after nutmegging Plaskonny on the right, but the Barcelona forward could not divert the ball goalwards. Replaced by Iniesta on the hour mark.

  The Masia graduate scored a marvellous hat-trick for La Roja tonight, and was a dangerous threat throughout. His movement both on and off the ball was a joy to watch, as Belarus' defence repeatedly failed to track him as he ghosted in and around their penalty area. All three of his goals were well-taken, chipped efforts over Veremko in the Belarus goal.
