Was quick off his line to make several important interventions, and also produced a series of fine saves towards the end of the game as Milan pushed for a winner. Unable to become the first goalkeeper to save a Balotelli penalty, though.
Had a difficult job as he was often forced to cover for Murru, who had a tough time against Niang. Completed this job excellently and stopped several dangerous raids. However, his match will be remembered for his needless tug on Balotelli that conceded a penalty and left him heading for an early shower.
Given the possession that Milan had, the right-back had a fairly quiet afternoon as the visitors channelled most of their attacks down the other flank. As the Rossoneri became more expansive in the second period, he stayed focus.
Was pitted against El Shaarawy and did extremely well in this personal duel. The centre-back was well positioned, and when dangerous deliveries were played into the box he was on hand to clear the danger.
The 18-year-old made just his sixth senior appearance, and he endured some nervy moments against one of Italy’s biggest sides. Caught in possession by Niang during the first half and was regularly targeted by the Milan attack. Life got more difficult when he was booked early in the second half, and he was replaced with 20 minutes left.
Captained his side in the centre of the field, and sprayed a series of dangerous raking balls from deep. Claimed the assist to Ibarbo’s opening goal with a well-weighted free kick, having created several chances for the forward previously. This was an inspirational showing.
A muscular presence in the centre of the field for Cagliari, he was happy to put in physical challenges to win possession back, and this had the effect of increasing the frustration of the visiting side as they sought the opening goal. Also possessed a threat aerially from set-pieces.
Was an aggressive performer in the Cagliari midfield, but paid for his efforts with a booking midway through the second half due to a foul on Balotelli. Did not offer much going forward, but his role was primarily defensive.
Failed to really make a positive impact on this encounter. When he threatened to break into space, he was inevitably tackled, while some of his passing in the centre of the field was sloppy and invited pressure onto his side. Replaced soon after the break.
Brilliantly headed his first goal of the season from a Conti free kick. The attacker is a notoriously unpredictable presence, but his pace was a threat to Milan and he managed to get in behind the defence during the opening stages, though he lacked composure in these situations.
Has enjoyed a fine return in terms of goals this season, and showed good technique at times in this clash. Posed problems by dropping deep into space, allowing him time to pick his best move. Should have had an assist to his name, but Ibrabo missed a fine chance. Withdrawn with quarter of an hour left following a quiet second period.
Came on for Murru with 20 minutes remaining.
The veteran came on in place of Ribero with 35 minutes remaining. Steadied things until the frenetic conclusion.
One of five changes to this Milan side, he stood little chance with Ibarbo’s headed goal on the stroke of half-time. Did not have a great deal to do otherwise.
Less active on the left than Abate on the opposite flank, but when he did push forward, the quality was lacking in his delivery. Was nearly caught in possession in the second half, which would surely have had disastrous repercussions.
Did not look especially comfortable against the pace of Ibrabo, and in possession he was prone to gifting the ball away in unexpected circumstances. Gave away a needless foul on the stroke of half-time that not only earned him a yellow card, but led to Cagliari’s goal.
Was better equipped to deal with the pace of Ibarbo than his central defensive colleague, but did allow himself to be beaten by the forward at the edge of the box early on. Was always available to receive the ball, if required, and used it sensibly.
Pushed forward consistently for the visiting side from his right-back berth, but was not simply an offensive option for Allegri’s side as he made a potentially goal-saving challenge on Ibarbo early on. Useful performance from the Italy international.
Was handed a rare start for the Rossoneri but was the least active of their midfield trio. Tried to push forward and offer support to the forwards, but was unable to have a telling impact on this clash.
Got himself into some good areas but lacked the subtlety to release any of his offensive colleagues. Showed his competitive instincts with some firm challenges in the centre of the park.
Dictated matters from deep for Milan but despite setting the tempo for his side, he could not fashion any openings. Was replaced shortly after being booked for persistent fouling as the captain looked to inspire his side.
Made a spectacular debut for the Rossoneri last weekend, and was the Milan hero once again with a late penalty. Ignited after that moment, and enjoyed a stellar conclusion to the match. Might have snatched a winner late on.
Continues to show plenty of promise in the Milan attack and displayed plenty of variety to his game, too. Threatened when he was in the box and supplied some good crosses from the wider areas.
Showed some tidy touches around the box, but this was certainly not his most effective performance for the Rossoneri. Was involved only fleetingly, so it was little surprise when he was replaced after an hour.
Introduced with 30 minutes to play and added dynamism to the side.
Played only a brief cameo, and made a telling impact as he was involved in the move that led to the penalty.
Thrown on as Milan chased an equaliser midway through the second half and added creativity.
