An efficient performance from Inter was enough to see off Catania, who continue their infamous record of never winning at the San Siro in this fixture. Moments of quality from Cassano, Cambiasso and Palacio were enough to extend Inter's winning run to five matches. Thanks for joining us on Goal.com LIVE, I'm Simon Harrison, see you next time!

Full time at the San Siro, where Inter have overcome a plucky Catania side courtesy of goals from Cassano and Palacio.

90′ +3
Gomez whips a ball in from the byline, but it's too close to Handanovic, who collects easily.

90′ +2
Zanetti goes on a marauding run down the right, puts a cross in which is looking for Milito, however Spolli did just enough to intercept the ball and prevent it from reaching the Inter striker.

90′ +1
Cambiasso plays a long ball over the top for Milito, who wants to get on the scoresheet, but is eventually dispossessed after holding onto the ball for too long.

90′
Alvarez penalised for challenging Andujar, after the Catania keeper was given a horrendous back-pass to deal with by one of his defenders.

88′
Yellow Card Lucas Castro
Castro is booked for simulation, after throwing himself over Cambiasso's leg in a dangerous area. Good decision from the referee.

87′
Milito and Palacio go close again, as they both fail to control the ball in a crowded Catania area. You can tell that they both want to put this game beyond doubt.

85′
Assist Diego Milito

85′
Goal Rodrigo Palacio
GOAL! For Inter! After a chipped through ball from Milito, Palacio brings the ball down on his chest, before striking the ball home on the volley, beating Andujar at his near post! Great goal!

84′
Lodi delivers a good ball into the Inter area from a free-kick, however Handanovic races out and deals with the danger with a great punch!

81′
Substitution Sergio Almiron Adrian Ricchiuti

81′
Gargano beats his man down the right wonderfully, before switching the ball wide to Alvarez. The substitute takes too long on the ball again, and in the end fires a comfortable strike at Andujar, who deflects it out for a corner. Should have done much better with that.

80′
Guarin dummies to shoot, taking four Catania defenders out of the game in one movement, slips the ball through a minute space, but fails to find the unmarked Palacio! Unlucky!

79′
Catania win a free-kick in a decent position, after Barrientos was brought down.

77′
Hits the woodwork! Cambiasso whips a beautiful ball in from the byline, Ranocchia climbs above his man, but sees his header cannon off the post and onto the helpless Andujar!

75′
Yellow Card Pablo Álvarez

75′
Catania could have a claim for a penalty, however the referee waves the claims away, as he deemed Guarin to get enough of the ball.

74′
Alvarez! So close for the substitute! After jinking in from the edge of the six-yard box, the forward should try and fire an effort at goal, but takes far too long and his eventual effort is blocked!

73′
Corner for Catania, as an attempted Almiron strike takes a deflection. Good build up play from the away side, who will feel they can still get something from the game.

72′
Cambiasso wins the ball in the centre of midfield, distributing the ball wide. Zanetti made the delivery, however Milito lashes his attempted volley way over the bar.

71′
Substitution Gaby Mudingayi Fredy Guarín

70′
Barrientos fires a shot at goal, however it almost turns into a great cross, as the midfield wrecking ball Almiron almost finds himself on the end of the effort.

69′
Substitution Antonio Cassano Ricardo Álvarez

69′
Antonio Cassano receives a standing ovation for his efforts, as he is substituted, however in the second half the Italian hasn't really managed to influence the game as he did in the first.

68′
Gomez centres the ball, this time from the right, however the ball manages to find it's way to Bergessio, who miscontrols, allowing the loose ball to be cleared.

66′
Bergessio is getting less service as the game progresses, and finds himself mobbed by Inter defenders the moment the ball touches his boot.

65′
Substitution Mariano Julio Izco Lucas Castro

64′
Palacio attempts another weak header at the Catania goal, however the looping cross didn't help his cause. Inter looking the more likely to make something happen at the moment.

63′
Close for Milito! Andujar will be relieved after failing to get a strong hand on the Inter forward's effort!

62′
Substitution Joel Obi Walter Gargano

62′
Spolli almost gets on the end of a Catania corner, however he was challenged by two Inter defenders, who got there just ahead of him.

62′
Walter Gargano looks likely to take to the field for Inter in the near future, as the home side are lacking an imposing figure in the centre of midfield.

59′
Zanetti ends a promising Inter attack in disappointing fashion, as he hangs up a cross, only for it to find the roof of Andujar's net.

58′
So close for Palacio! A searching ball from Cassano across the six-yard box evades the boot of the Argentine, who was steaming in at the back post!

57′
Despite pressing on, the away side's attacks are failing to penetrate a trio of Inter defenders who have so far proved to be reasonably solid.

55′
End to end stuff at the moment, as plucky Catania seemingly aren't prepared to go home without getting on the scoresheet.

53′
A long throw-in finds Milito drifting into space by the byline, the striker plays a dangerous ball across the six-yard box, but Andujar pounces upon the cross.

52′
Cassano is given the ball in a wide area, and attempts to centre a first time cross, however the goalscorer gets it all wrong and sees his attempt cannon off the first defender.

50′
Cassano gets a through ball all wrong, failing to find Palacio, who didn't seem to be on the same wavelength as him. Catania have come out of the blocks quicker in the second half.

49′
Cassano looks to find the overlapping Palacio, however the stocky Argentine is bullied off the ball as he looked to control it, and Catania clear.

48′
Great build up play from Catania is cut out, only for Zanetti to break down the right, play a ball ahead of Milito, but Andujar is quick to spot the danger and intercepts the pass.

47′
Handanovic is forced into a save from Gomez, after a scything through ball from Almiron, but the winger was offside.

46′
Cassano almost slips a ball through to Milito, but Spolli steps up intelligently and cuts the pass out.

46′
The away side get the second half underway!

Inter will need to go out in search of the second goal in this game if they wish to kill off the opposition, as the away side look dangerous, especially down the left - due to the adventurous combination of Gomez and Marchese.

Catania will need to keep tabs on Cassano in the second half, though Spolli is close to picking up a yellow card, as the little man has provided the most invention for the home side, as well as the opening goal.

After starting brightly, Catania are unlucky to be behind at the break. Cambiasso and Cassano have been the difference for the home side, as they have added the creative spark to an Inter side which has otherwise been devoid of intent.

45′ +1
The ref halts the game for the break. Catania will feel aggrieved to be behind after Almiron missed a great chance in the opening minutes.

45′
One minute of added time.

45′
Lodi finds Marchese wide on the left, the left-back whips a ball in from deep, however Izco heads the ball well wide under no pressure. Could have done much better with that chance!

43′
Bergessio finds himself bursting through on goal, however the referee pulls play back for a supposed foul on Ranocchia. The Catania forward didn't look to pleased with the decision.

42′
Milito goes down with a knock, as the Inter forward was sandwiched, it seems as though he's had the wind knocked out of him and is clutching his ribs as he leaves the pitch. He should be okay to continue.

41′
Juan and Barrientos briefly square up after the Catania player shepherded the ball out of play aggressively, but the situation doesn't escalate any further due to the presence of the referee.

39′
Palacio was wrongly called offside, after a through ball in behind the Catania defence from Obi found the Argentine. Definitely onside, unfortunate for the home team.

38′
Cambiasso is called offside, after a probing Inter cross looked to find the central midfielder.

37′
Final warning for Spoli, after the Catania defender catches Cassano with a high foot, with his studs showing.

36′
Juan makes a marauding run forwards, however he decides to play back towards his own goal, with the ball eventually ending up at Handanovic's feet. Disappointing after a promising start to the move.

35′
Gomez centres the ball after good work down the left, but Ranocchia manages to head the ball away from an awkward position.

34′
Inter are beginning to settle into their own rhythm, after the initial bright start from Catania. Bergessio is seeing less of the ball as the minutes tick by.

32′
Marchese unleashes a venomous drive from around 25 yards, but Handanovic beats the strike away with the sunlight in his eyes. Comfortable height, but powerful.

31′
Cambiasso tries to find Palacio's run, as the Argentinian's attempt to combine, but his ball is mis-placed and goes behind the forward.

30′
Inter win a free-kick in their own half which prevents a Catania break, as Barrientos was judged to have shoved Zanetti.

28′
Assist Esteban Cambiasso

28′
Goal Antonio Cassano
GOAL for Inter! Cassano heads home, after a delightful ball from Cambiasso found the maestro's run towards the back post!

28′

26′
Cassano is at the heart of things again, as he tried to thread an eye-of-the-needle ball through to Milito, however his pass was cut out by a defender.

25′
Gomez cuts inside from the left, tries to angle a cross towards the back post, however he sees the ball fly out for an Inter goal-kick.

24′
Obi fires a shot at Andujar's goal, from around 25 yards, however it's straight at the Catania shot-stopper. Encouraging last five minutes for Inter.

22′

21′

19′

18′
Catania win the second ball from a Ranocchia clearance, however the away side quickly lose the ball, it is sprayed out wide to Zanetti, who finds the lively Cassano, but he is fouled as he tries to turn.

17′
No fear shown from Catania thus far, who have unbelievably never managed to win at the San Siro against Inter.

15′
Marchese breaks into the Inter six-yard box at a narrow angle, but Inter throw bodies in front of the ball and Handanovic is able to collect the ball. That was dangerous, had Marchese managed to square the ball, Inter would have had problems.

14′
Palacio robs Marchese of the ball, bursts down the right, but he floats his cross over all of his teammates who have made runs into the box. Wasteful.

13′
Lodi's free kick doesn't find one of his own players, but Almiron managed to centre the ball again from the rebound. Handanovic catches the resulting header easily.

12′
Alvarez gives the ball away deep in his own half, but Inter fail to capitalise on the error and the away side manage to break down the left, before Samuel gives away a needless free-kick.

10′
Close for Cassano! A lofted ball found its way narrowly over the Catania defence, the Italian took the ball down on his chest, but the outrushing Andujar smothered the ball brilliantly.

9′
Catania have matched Inter completely in the opening stages, and should be ahead after a great chance fell to Almiron.

8′
First corner of the afternoon goes to Inter, however nothing comes of it, and the ball eventually finds its way out for a goal-kick.

7′
What a miss! Almiron hooks his strike over the bar, after a mix-up between Juan and Samuel left the player totally unmarked! He should have buried that.
