The United States advanced through Group G with an unblemished record, finishing the Olympic group stage with a 1-0 victory over North Korea.
The game's only goal came in the 25th minute when Alex Morgan latched onto a lofted ball behind the North Korean defense. The forward held the ball up before slipping a pass to Abby Wambach, who was left with a simple finish from close range.
For the remainder of the match, the U.S. took its foot off the gas, failing to find much rhythm, but still managing to keep the North Koreans at bay. The Asian side's chances were dealt a blow with 10 minutes to play, as Choe Mi-Gyong was sent off for her second yellow card.
With the win, the U.S. wins Group G with a perfect 3-0-0 record. It will now move on to the quarterfinals on Aug. 3, where it will face New Zealand. If it wins, it will face the winner of Canada - Team GB in the semifinals.
