Let the Games begin.

The U.S. women's national team helped open the 2012 Olympics with a come-from-behind 4-2 victory over France at the famed Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland, on Wednesday, two days before the opening ceremony.

After falling into a two-goal hole in the first half, the Americans bounced back in a big way with two goals on either side of the half to avoid a major upset for the world's top-ranked women's team.

Alex Morgan led the U.S. with a pair of goals while Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd also found the back of the net for the Yanks, who are looking to recover from a disappointing second-place finish in last year's World Cup.

Gaëtane Thiney and Marie-Laure Delie scored for France within a two-minute span shortly after kickoff, giving U.S. coach Pia Sundhage's squad an early scare.

The scoring started in the 12th minute when Amy LePeilbet headed the ball to Thiney, who fired home from 20 yards. Two minutes later, Delie put the ball past superstar goalkeeper Hope Solo to make it 2-0 early on.

But that would be all the scoring for France. The rest of the match belonged to the favorites.

In the 19th minute, a Christie Rampone corner found the head of Wambach for the forward's fourth-career Olympic goal. Then Morgan tallied her first of the afternoon at the 32nd minute to gain control of the game.

Lloyd scored the eventual winner in the 56th minute after receiving a pass from Rapinoe outside the top of the box, where she fired home a shot to the left side of the net. Ten minutes later, Morgan tapped in a Tobin Heath cross to put the icing on the cake.

Although the Olympics opening ceremony won't happen until Friday night in London, the Olympics got off to an early start with women's soccer on Wedneday. Team GB defeated New Zealand in Cardiff, Wales, in the Olympics' first event. There were a total of six women's games on what Games organizers are calling "Day -2."

U.S. defender Rampone became the USA’s all-time leader in Olympic appearances with 17, passing legends Joy Fawcett, Julie Foudy, Kristine Lilly and Kate Markgraf.
