Chivas de Guadelajara scored a huge victory over rival Club America, defeating the Aguilas 3-1 on their own turf.
Marco Fabian opened the scoring in the 36th, pouncing on a deflected long throw that dropped dangerously in the box.
America fired back shortly after through Juan Carlos Medina, who was given too much time in the box, and picking up a cross, left a defender on his backside before powering home his finish.
But it was Rafael Marquez Lugo who was to play the hero in the second half, scoring two goals in eight minutes to secure victory for the Goats. His first, in the 60th, was a low effort that deflected off a defender and bamboozled America keeper Hugo Gonzalez.
His second strike, not long after, was a thing of beauty. Receiving the ball 30 yards from goal, he turned a defender before curling a dipping golazo past the helpless Gonzalez to seal victory.
