Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio may opt to stick with an unchanged team from his side that beat rivals Newcastle United 3-0 in the Tyne-Wear Derby. Carlos Cuellar should be fit for the clash with Everton despite picking up a knock in the win over the Magpies while striker Connor Wickham (ankle) could return after missing the game.
Di Canio will be without long-term absentees Steven Fletcher (ankle), Lee Cattermole and Wes Brown (both knee). Craig Gardner will also miss out as he serves the second match of his suspension following his 10th booking of the season, in the Black Cats' defeat to Chelsea two weeks ago.
Everton boss David Moyes has no new injury worries following his side’s clash with Arsenal in midweek. Leon Osman (hip) missed the game but could return to replace Ross Barkley in the center of midfield.
Skipper Phil Neville could also feature in rotation at right-back allowing Seamus Coleman to push forward into midfield. Up front Victor Anichebe looks set to continue to lead the line but Nikica Jelavic could return to the starting lineup at the Stadium of Light.
