Player Ratings: Fulham 3-2 QPR

Two mistakes from Chris Samba handed the Cottagers an early two-goal lead, and despite the visitor's best efforts in the second half, Martin Jol's side held on for a home win.

Wasn't really called into action in the first half as QPR struggled to hit the target but the Australian was perhaps a tad bit slow to get down to Taarabt's goal. He did well, though, in keeping Loic Remy's spot-kick out after the break.

  • John Arne Riise

His powerfully driven cross forced Clint Hill into handing Fulham their third of the night. The experienced defender put in a decent performance from a defensive standpoint.

The Switzerland international had a solid first half alongside Hangeland, though he was rarely tested, but had an altogether busier second period as QPR tried to draw level. He looked nervous at times but coped well on the whole.

  • Brede Hangeland

The Norwegian committed his long-term future to the club in the week and provided a calming presence at the back for the hosts in the first half. He was turned all too easily by Remy for his goal after the break, but organised his side well to hold on for the result.

The on-loan German full-back put in another impressive performance. QPR had very little joy attacking down his flank and his quality in the final third was impressive throughout.

  • Steve Sidwell

    Steve Sidwell

The midfielder had a very effective game in the middle of the park because of his willingness to press QPR players all over the pitch. Saw red for an overzealous challenge in the second half.

  • Giorgos Karagounis

    Giorgos Karagounis

The Greek veteran was having a fine game in midfield before he needlessly brought down Taarabt in the box to give away a penalty and hand the visitors the impetus. Almost chipped in with a late goal but was muscled out by Onuoha.

  • Damien Duff

    Damien Duff

He brought a fine save out of Julio Cesar very early on which set the agenda for the rest of the first half. His influence in the game gradually faded as the game went on.

  • Ashkan Dejagah

    Ashkan Dejagah

The Iran international made a really bright start to the game, covering plenty of ground on the right flank and showing an eye for a pass when drifting inside. He won Fulham's penalty with his typically industrious closing down but his night was cut short by a first-half injury.

  • Dimitar Berbatov

The Bulgarian dispatched Fulham's early penalty with his typical nonchalance and continued to pull the strings in the hosts attack from then on. He drifted out of the game later on but by that time all his damage had been done.

  • Bryan Ruiz

    Bryan Ruiz

The Costa Rican played a vital role for the hosts, supporting Berbatov in attack when the Cottagers had possession and dropping into midfield when they didn't. His close control and ability to shield the ball from his opponent made him a constant threat.

    Urby Emanuelson

Replaced Dejagah in the first half but did not have anywhere near the impact of the injured Iranian. He made some impressive dribbles but always looked nervous in the final third. Suffered the humiliation of being subbed late on when Sidwell saw red.

  • Julio César

    Julio César

The Brazilian made a fine start to the game - keeping Duff out with a smart save - but was then easily by Berbatov's penalty moments later. He could do nothing about Fulham's third but he did make some notable saves after the break.

  • Armand Traoré

    Armand Traoré

Frustrating would best sum up the QPR left-back's night. On occasion he showed a good touch and impressive athleticism but his positioning and decision making let him down in both areas of the pitch.

  • Christopher Samba

Christopher Samba Flop of the Match

The £12 million centre-back got QPR off to a nightmare start when he clumsily brought down Dejagah in the box to give away a penalty. It got even worse moments later when he hesitated in possession allowing Fulham to nick the ball and double their lead. He was on edge all night.

  • Clint Hill

    Clint Hill

He did what he could while his central defensive partner, Samba, was having a nightmare of a game. His own goal in the first half was brought more out of bad luck than bad defending. There was not much he could do to clear Riise's driven cross. Came off at half-time.

  • José Bosingwa

    José Bosingwa

Had a nervy game against Damien Duff and was lucky not to give away a penalty with a handball in the second half.

    Adel Taarabt

The Moroccan justified his inclusion in the side with a well-taken first-half goal after Harry Redknapp brought him back into the team after a spell on the sidelines. He also won a penalty, abeit missed by Remy, to provide the visitors with a lifeline.

The first half passed the midfielder by but he began to influence proceedings as QPR improved in the second half. His performance was not up to the standard he set in his last few games.

The Tottenham loanee was eager to impress throughout but his end product was poor more often than not. His industry and willingness to work his team-mates deserves to be highlighted.

  • Stéphane M'Bia

    Stéphane M'Bia

One of the visitors' better performers on the night, he never stopped running in midfield and did well to both break up some Fulham attacks and kick-start some for his own side.

  • Loïc Remy

    Loïc Remy

After a fairly anonymous first half, the Frenchman made more of an impact after the half-time break. He came close with a deflected low shot just after the restart but then had his tame penalty saved by Mark Schwarzer. He was not to be denied twice, as he raced away and finished emphatically for QPR's second.

    B. Zamora

Had QPR's best first-half chance but his left-footed shot from close range when flying over the bar. Had a long-range shot pushed past the post late on. The Englishman suffered from a lack of service from his team-mates.

Came on at half-time for Clint Hill and slotted in adequately in the centre of QPR's defence, keeping a second half clean sheet.

Came on as a second half sub as Harry Redknapp's men pushed for an equaliser but had little impact on the match.

    Junior Hoilett

The Canadian winger came on with 15 minutes to go as QPR chased an equaliser. Provided the visitors with some pace down the flanks but never had enough time to make a real difference.
