Russell Martin (back) is doubtful, and could be replaced for Norwich at right back by either Ryan Bennett, a natural center back, or Steven Whittaker, who made his competitive debut on Wednesday following his summer arrival from Rangers.

Elliott Bennett, Anthony Pilkington, and Alexander Tettey have been preferred in midfield in recent matches, but winger Robert Snodgrass could feature at some point.

Playmaker Wes Hoolahan has started behind lone striker Grant Holt of late, but Steve Morison and Simeon Jackson are options in a front two and could feature at some point, although Harry Kane (ankle) will be out for a while.

Stoke is  without regular left back Marc Wilson (broken leg), and natural right back Andy Wilkinson is set to replace him, though center back Matthew Upson is another option. American Geoff Cameron will continue at right back.

Glenn Whelan (hamstring) could return to midfield in place of Dean Whitehead alongside Steven N’Zonzi and Charlie Adam, while left winger Matthew Etherington will challenge for a place and could feature at some point.

• The Potters have, however, won three and lost none of the last four league meetings with Norwich, although they needed a last minute equalizer through Kenwyne Jones to avoid defeat in a 1-1 draw in this fixture last season despite their opponents going down to 10 men.

• Stoke has kept three clean sheets in its last four league games and been involved in three of the six goalless draws in the Premier League this season, more than any other side, and has also drawn six league matches in total, the most in the league.

• Grant Holt has scored three goals in his last four Premier League appearances.

• Stoke has won 60 percent of its aerial duels this season, the joint-most in the league together with Fulham.
