  Ben Foster

  With West Brom the better side for most of the match, Foster had little to do. Even when QPR came into the game in the second-half we was still largely untested and dealt with the majority of things with ease, while he had no chance with either goal.

  Jonas Olsson

  The big Swede always looks like he has a mistake in him as he appears uncomfortable on the ball and his passing is often wayward. He wasn’t punished for anything today, but his distribution didn’t help his teammates at times.

  An effective performance from the Macedonian left back. He was up against the duo of Wright-Phillips and Bosingwa, but he dealt with them easily enough and even threatened going forward, offering an extra outlet.

  The more-assured of the two center backs, but he didn’t look up to the challenge of dealing with Zamora, with the England international dominating aerially. However, the other facets of his play were good enough on the day.

  Sebastien Gabriel Tamaş

  Only lasted 45 minutes as he was withdrawn at the break, but he looked comfortable enough while he was on, putting in a number of tackles on Taarabt and Co.

  Claudio Yacob

  Ever since arriving from Racing Club in Argentina, Yacob has been impressive. When he is on the ball the Baggies look in control and today was no different. His passing was excellent, while he also put in a number of challenges in the midfield as he hoped to counter the threat of Granero.

  James Morrison

  The former Middlesbrough man really made the difference for West Brom. He opened the scoring with a good header, then had a hand in the second as his cross ended up at the feet of Gera. He looked dangerous all afternoon and continues his great early-season form.

  Youssouf Mulumbu Top of the Match

  Undoubtedly one of the most underrated midfielders in the Premier League. The Congolese player was everywhere, breaking up play, initiating attacks. His passing was accurate, his dribbling effective and he popped up late on for the all-important winning goal.

  Zoltán Gera

  Nothing spectacular from the Hungarian, but he did his job well, offloading the ball quickly in order to keep attacks going. His composure was evident as he doubled West Brom’s lead with a good finish in the area.

  Shane Long

  His pace and movement was excellent, helping him set up the first goal as he glided past Hill before supplying an inch-perfect cross for Morrison. Unsurprisingly his finishing was not great as he missed a golden chance from seven yards out, but his overall play gave QPR serious problems.

  Peter Odemwingie

  Playing from the right, the Nigerian combined well with Morrison, with his use of the ball particularly good in attacking positions. He even helped out Tamas by tracking back when he could.

  Could do nothing about the West Brom goals, but he did make some good saves, particularly one from Morrison at the end of the first-half. Perhaps could have come out to meet more crosses.

  Anton Ferdinand

  Not a great performance from the man who has been at the center of the media's attention recently. He should have stayed closer to Morrison for the opening goal, and he struggled throughout, whether that was against the quick Long, or powerful Lukaku.

  Clint Hill Flop of the Match

  Hill was very poor while on the pitch as he was tormented by Morrison and Odemwingie before being taken off at half-time. He took a knock to his head and may have been replaced due to that, but it wouldn’t be a shock if it was because he was the weak link.

  José Bosingwa

  Attacking would usually be classed as his strongest asset, but he wasn’t particularly impressive in attack or defense today. On several occasions he was completely out of position when West Brom were on the front-foot, while he offered Wright-Phillips virtually no support going forward.

  Didn’t do much wrong and was definitely the better of the two center backs, but he did struggle with the pace and movement of Long, while the insistence of Morrison and Odemwingie to roam also caused problems.

  He is yet to truly sparkle in a QPR shirt, much like most of the team, and he was quiet again. He had very little presence in the attacking third, getting dispossessed more often than not, and his all-action style was not evident enough.

  Adel Taarabt

  Unquestionably talented but so erratic, Taarabt gives Manchester United’s Nani a run for his money for the most inconsistent player in the Premier League, but today was definitely one of his better days. He was not all about the tricks and he picked out several excellent passes in behind the Baggies defense and scored a magnificent goal.

  Esteban Granero

  QPR’s best player. His passing was adventurous as he did not always just play the simple pass to his right and he managed a great assist for Taarabt’s goal. He already looks perfectly suited to this league and grabbed a late goal.

  The muscle in midfield, but he struggled in his battle against the more dynamic Mulumbu. He played a number of questionable passes and many of his tackles were clumsy. Certainly lost the duel.

  Has not looked particularly good ever since joining QPR, and that trend continued at the Hawthorns. Popov generally had the better of him and he created very little. Eventually came off for Hoilett.

  A fair few touches, but he didn’t do a great deal with them. His first-touch was often poor and his dribbling ineffective. Physically he looked dangerous, but overall he had a disappointing afternoon.
