David Moyes has a full strength squad to choose from for this home fixture, with both Darron Gibson and Steven Pienaar returning after short spells out. The Scot will be bidding to get his side back to winning ways after a sloppy 2-0 defeat away at West Brom before the international break.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew, though, faces a mini injury crisis already, just a matter of weeks into the new league season. Danny Simpson limped out of the club's 1-1 draw last weekend with Aston Villa at home with a hamstring injury, meaning the versatile Vurnon Anita moved to right back in his place.
Ryan Taylor remains a long-term concern having suffered a cruciate ligament injury during the Europa League clash against Atromitos, while both Sammy and Shola Ameobi look set to miss out with hamstring injuries.
Tim Krul should recover in time from an elbow injury sustained while on duty with Holland and Fabricio Coloccini should return from his own hamstring injury. A late fitness check with also be run on influential midfielder Cheick Tiote, after being ruled out recently with a groin strain.
