Netherlands were beaten 3-2 by Bayern Munich in Tuesday's friendly encounter at the Allianz Arena.
Toni Kroos gave the Bavarians an early lead with a powerful long-range strike, but Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Luciano Narsingh turned things around only minutes later, before Nils Petersen leveled matters once again. Mario Gomez then netted the winner in the closing stages of the game.
The home side got the first good chance of the match after only six minutes of play. The Dutch defense allowed Danijel Pranjic too much space on the edge of the area, and the Croatian midfielder's low shot was pushed away by Michel Vorm.
Oranje then came close to opening the scoring after some sloppy defending from David Alaba. The fullback failed to clear a pass for Huntelaar, but the Dutchman's low shot was kept out by Hans-Jorg Butt.
Bayern then grabbed the lead in the 17th minute via Kroos. The attacking midfielder opted to try his luck from 25 yards out, and the surprised Vorm palmed the powerful shot into his own net off the crossbar.
Netherlands found an immediate equalizer as Huntelaar restored parity with a calm finish after being set up by Dirk Kuyt.
The away side then went 2-1 up one minute later when Narsingh escaped from Alaba's attention after a quick one-two with Rafael van der Vaart. The Heerenveen winger kept his calm in the one-on-one with Butt, and beat the Bayern goalkeeper with a delicate chip.
The impressive Kroos continued to cause Netherlands all kinds of trouble in midfield, and started the attack that led to the equalizer in the 27th minute. The former Leverkusen star set up Ivica Olic, who sent in a perfect cross for the unmarked Petersen. The striker didn't fail from close range and powered his header past the helpless Vorm.
Despite making seven substitutions at halftime, Holland started the second half the better side of the two, and Wilfred Bouma almost restored his side's lead with a good header from a corner, while Adam Maher's powerful long-range strike around the hour mark was parried by Butt.
Arjen Robben then came off the bench for Holland and the winger was jeered by the Bayern fans every time he touched the ball.
Franck Ribery should have made it 3-2 in the 78th minute after rounding Vorm, but the Frenchman aimed wide from a narrow angle.
The Bavarians did get the winner they were after in the 87th minute, though. Ribery marched past Vurnon Anita before setting up Gomez, who tapped home from close range.
Netherlands will continue its preparation for Euro 2012 on Saturday when they take on Bulgaria in an international friendly at the Amsterdam ArenA.
