After celebrating his 10-year Goodison Park anniversary on Wednesday, David Moyes will be looking to bounce back from the lackluster 3-0 defeat away at rival Liverpool with a place in the FA Cup semifinals.
Moyes will most likely rotate his squad after resting several players in Tuesday’s derby, but Everton is still without Darron Gibson, who is crocked with a knee injury until next weekend at the earliest.
After a sumptuous start to his Sunderland career, boss Martin O’Neill’s impact his stalled slightly in recent weeks. A heavy loss to West Brom and a draw against rival Newcastle were overshadowed by an impressive three points against Liverpool last time out.
O’Neill will be hoping to take that confidence into the game against a side which has picked up impressive home wins over the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and, most recently, Tottenham.
Sunderland welcomes back skipper Lee Cattermole from suspension, but Stephane Sessegnon is still banned. There are doubts over the fitness of Nicklas Bendtner (knee) and Kieran Richardson (calf), while Wes Brown and Titus Bramble are not expected back in training until the end of the month.
