Columbus Crew 2-1 Toronto FC: Higuaín nets brace in Crew win
The Columbus Crew rounded out their regular season run with a win over a Toronto FC side that will be happy to see the season end.
Jamie Sabau
Toronto FC's season has mercifully come to an end but the team took a 2-1 loss on Sunday to the Columbus Crew to round off a hugely disappointing year.
Federico Higuaín opened the scoring in the 17th minute, picking up a loose ball, cutting in on his left foot and slotting it home.
Andrew Wiedeman got his team back in the match 10 minutes later. A bit of hustle from the forward with him chasing down what seemed like a lost cause turned into a breakaway when the defender involved misplayed the ball and hit fell. Wiedman slipped in behind and passed it into the net to tie things up.
Higuain hammered home his second of the night from the penalty spot to put Columbus back in front for good.
