Vancouver Whitecaps 0-1 Portland Timbers: Portland clinches Cascadia Cup
Jack Jewsbury scored the game's only goal with a fantastic strike from distance.

There is now a silver lining in the Portland Timbers' disappointing 2012 MLS campaign: the Cascadia Cup. The Timbers earned the trophy with a 1-0 road win over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
The visitors took the lead in the 40th minute through an absolute belter from Jack Jewsbury. Franck Songo'o laid the ball back to the midfielder, who hit a first-time blast from long distance that flew past Brad Knighton and into the back of the net.
The goal ended up being the game's only tally, as Portland brought home the trophy awarded to the team with the most points in head-to-head matches between Portland, Vancouver and the Seattle Sounders.
It was a flat performance from the home side, which could have clinched a playoff berth with a win. Luckily, FC Dallas lost to Seattle later in the evening, which clinched a spot in the playoffs for Vancouver.
The Whitecaps close out their season on Saturday with a difficult trip to Real Salt Lake.
