CHESTER, Pa -- The Philadelphia Union defeated the New England Revolution 1-0 at PPL Park to secure a second consecutive victory and pile more misery on the struggling Revs.

New England striker Jerry Bengtson wasted the best chance of the first half with a glaring miss in the 30th minute. Rounding Zac MacMath, the Honduran had the entire net at his mercy, but somehow managed to hit his shot off the post.

Jack McInerney scored in the 73rd minute. The 20-year-old's far-post header on a cross from Keon Daniel was reminiscent of his previous goal against the Revs, a game winner on July 29.

New England's Benny Feilhaber was shown his second yellow card and thus a red in the 88th for a professional foul on Philadelphia's Antoine Hoppenot.

The result preserves the Union's record of never having lost against New England. In seven meetings between the two sides, the Union have taken maximum points on four occasions; the other three clashes resulted in draws.

New England has now won just won of its last 15 MLS games, the 2-0 victory over Columbus on Sept. 5 being its only victory since July 8.
