Vancouver Whitecaps 4-0 Chivas USA: Goats out of the playoffs
Camilo scored and set up two others in a 4-0 rout that put Vancouver's playoff charge back on track at the expense of Chivas USA.
By Zac Lee Rigg
The Vancouver Whitecaps mathematically eliminated Chivas USA from the postseason picture with a heavy 4-0 win on Wednesday.
For the first goal, Kenny Miller held up the ball in the box, delaying long enough for Gershon Koffie to steak into range. Koffie laced the soft teed-up ball with venom, sizzling a shot past Dan Kennedy.
Miller had to leave the match with injury a couple minutes later, and was replaced by Dane Richards. After 35 minutes, the Jamaican stripped John Valencia along the flank, played a one-two with Camilo and zipped toward goal, finishing from an impossibly tight angle.
Those two combined for Vancouver's third after the hour mark. Ante Jazic failed to clear a deflected Richards cross, so Camilo tipped it into the goal from close range. The Brazilian celebrated by doing a Gangnam Style clog.
Barry Robson finished the Goats off with a emphatic volley from Camilo's cross. Chivas USA didn't put a shot on target.
The result eliminated Chivas USA, the Colorado Rapids and the Portland Timbers from playoff contention.
