New York Red Bulls 4-1 Toronto FC: Henry notches goal and three assists in masterful performance
The French forward turned in a brilliant performance, destroying TFC to the tune of three assists and a goal.
By Seth Vertelney
Thierry Henry was on another level as he notched a goal and three assists, as the New York Red Bulls rolled to a 4-1 home win over Toronto FC at Red Bull Arena.
The visitor got off to a quick start, shocking the favored hosts, and it was an absolute bomb from Ryan Johnson. The Jamaican ripped a shot from distance that swerved away from Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles and into the far corner.
Just a few minutes later, though, New York was level. Markus Holgersson got on the end of a corner kick from Henry to head home and restore parity at 1-1.
The Red Bulls made it 2-1 later in the half after a fantastic blind pass from Henry. Lloyd Sam slotted the Frenchman through the TFC defense but, instead of shooting, Henry squared to an onrushing Kenny Cooper, who had a simple tap-in.
With just minutes to go, Henry created another piece of magic to set up a goal for Cooper. After collecting in the box, Henry beat his man off the dribble and squared to his forward counterpart, who again had a simple finish into an open net.
The magical Frenchman wasn't finished, though, as he added the gloss on a brilliant performance with a first-time chip from outside the box that left Freddy Hall stranded in the TFC net.
