The pecking order in the Eastern Conference remained the same with Sporting Kansas City top and the New York Red Bulls second after the teams drew 1-1 in LIVESTRONG Sporting Park Sunday night.
The match was a tale of two Kei Kamara headers. For the first, Graham Zusi chipped the ball ahead and Teal Bunbury, in the last fraction of a second before Bill Gaudette's rush snuffed out the chance, flicked the ball up in the air. Kamara out-jumped Connor Lade to score a looping header from near the penalty spot, only four minutes into the match.
The second went into his own net. Sebastien Le Toux knocked a long free kick into the box. Under pressure from Tim Cahill, Kamara accidentally pushed the ball past his own goalkeeper, Jimmy Nielsen, who had failed to deal with the danger.
Kamara nearly won the game with a free kick just over 10 minutes left in the match. His long-range free kick sizzled a few feet wide of the post.
Quirkily, New York didn't record an official shot on target.
