Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 Real Salt Lake: Role reversal
In a Western Conference showdown, Vancouver edged up the table against second-placed Salt Lake with a home win.

Two weeks after losing 2-1 to Real Salt Lake in Utah, the Vancouver Whitecaps won by that scoreline in Canada.
In the first half, Jay DeMerit smacked heads with Brad Knighton, making his first start of the season in place of the suspended Joe Cannon. The American international had to leave the match, and defender Andy O'Brien earned his first minutes for the club as the captain's substitute.
Vancouver opened the scoring nearly an hour into the match. Camilo pounced on a blocked clearance and tucked home from a tight angle. Five minutes later, Dane Richards doubled the lead with a gorgeous effort from outside the box that curled around a defender on its way past Nick Rimando.
In stoppage time RSL scored a consolation. Paulo Jr. centered the ball from the far edge of the field and Nat Borchers headed it on target.
