Sporting Kansas City ransacked Columbus for three points. The Crew held nearly 62 percent of possession and only faced two shots on target, but still lost 2-0.
Heading into the game, these two teams had conceded the least in MLS this year - 17 goals each.
The first goal was created by Peterson Joseph and finished by Jacob Peterson in the sixth minute. Joseph slipped the ball through the Crew defense with a slick pass from the outside of his foot. Peterson only had to tuck his shot past Andy Gruenebaum.
Kei Kamara, wearing a vampire-fang mouth guard, created the second near the close of the match. American international Teal Bunbury finished it to ice the result.
