A series of goal-line clearances meant FC Dallas and the San Jose Earthquakes finished their Saturday night match tied at 0-0.
The host prodded first. David Ferreira split the defense with an exquisite ball. Jon Busch rushed out to prevent Brek Shea from latching onto it, knocking the ball free in the box. Fabian Castillo shot the rebound, but it slammed into the prone Jason Hernandez.
Later in the first half, Chris Wondolowski raced clear on goal and dinked the ball over Kevin Hartman, only for Hernan Pertuz to race back and block the ball at the goalmouth.
At the hour mark, Ramiro Corrales connected with a corner, and this time Carlos Rodriguez hooked the ball off the line.
Corrales only lasted 20 more minutes. Two yellows in the matter of three minutes saw San Jose finish the match with 10 men.
