Columbus Crew 2-0 Real Salt Lake: Lights out for RSL
Real Salt Lake lost its third game in a row, falling to two first-half goals against the Columbus Crew.
By Zac Lee Rigg
George Frey
After a power outage in Crew Stadium threatened to delay the game, the Columbus Crew turned out the lights on Real Salt Lake, winning 2-0.
Both goals came in the first half. For the first, Emilio Renteria surged around the RSL defense and cut the ball sharply into the box. Tchani placed a crisp shot into the bottom right corner of the goal as Nick Rimando lurched the opposite direction.
A minute before the break, Josh Williams had time to trap the ball in the box and feed Gaven. Gaven opened his body and redirected the hard cross into the roof of the net to double the score.
The loss is Salt Lake's third in a row.
