Chicago Fire 3-1 New York Red Bulls: Oduro robbed, but Fire win

Despite a clear goal ruled out by the referee, there was enough in the Fire to send New York home empty-handed.

The Chicago Fire put four past Ryan Meara, but only three were counted as the home side sent New York packing, winning 3-1.

Patrick Nyarko opened the scoring early a put Chicago up in the fourth minute, leaping high to head home a ball from Sebastian Grazzini.

Dax McCarty equalized for the Red Bulls early in the second half, although controversy ensued when his header appeared to have taken an extra touch from the offside Markus Holgersson. That was nothing, however, compared to the ire raised when referee Baldomero Toledo missed a goal from Dominic Oduro. The Chicago striker employed his impressive speed to beat the offside trap and finish, but Wilman Conde's clearance with the ball well over the line fooled the official.

It turned out to be a moot point just a few minutes later, though, as Gonzalo Segares smashed a spilled save into the roof of the net. Poor marking from New York then allowed substitute Chris Rolfe to finish the easiest goal of his career, tapping a Nyarko cross over the line, unmarked a yard from goal.
