SANDY, Utah -- Real Salt Lake took the lead twice, FC Dallas equalized twice, but in the end a stoppage-time goal from Nat Borchers was one too many for Dallas as the Utah club walked away with a 3-2 victory.
The first half and much of the second was a disjointed affair as both teams struggled to impose their flow to the game. But slowly RSL began asserting themselves more, and it finally paid off as it broke the stalemate in the 59th minute. First-year RSL player Terakazu Tanaka whipped in a great ball from the right flank that Saborio easily headed home.
Matt Hedges equalized as a scramble in front of the RSL goal. Hedges end up with the ball at his feet and he poked it just over the line as goalkeeper Kyle Reynish unsuccessfully tried to clear.
Saborio scored again only one minute later as his shot deflected off Hedges and wrong-footed Kevin Hartman. In the 85th minute, Blas Perez whipped a volley through the hands of a stunned Reynish, and it appeared a draw was the likely outcome.
But in the 93rd minute, a loose ball in the box found the feet of Borchers and he slotted it into the upper 90 to win the match.
