D.C. United 3-1 Toronto FC: TFC continues horrible run

Mitchell Layton

Toronto FC can't find a win, and a beating from United on Saturday night kept that trend going.

Toronto FC's losing ways did not change on Saturday night as the club took a 3-1 beating from D.C. United. It was the Canadian club's ninth straight loss to begin the season.

Dwayne De Rosario made sure the Canadian outfit would be playing from behind with his goal just 55 seconds into the match. A curled free kick found the former Red who headed it home.

Things did not get much better for TFC as United made it 2-0 just before the break. The team put together a nice combination that resulted in Chris Korb flashing a low cross across the face of goal where De Rosario was on hand to tap it home.

Danny Koevermans tried to give Toronto some life in when he got on the end of Julian De Guzman's free kick and knocked it home in the 71st minute, but Hamdi Salihi made sure there was no hope of a comeback with his goal just moments later.

Andy Najar set the table with a nice run into the box, and Salihi slid in to poke home the insurance goal.
