New England Revolution 2-1 Colorado Rapids: Sene powers Revs to home victory
The French striker scored a volley and added an assist for Fernando Cardenas to lead the Revs to victory
By Seth Vertelney
The New England Revolution snapped a three-game losing streak in a 2-1 home victory over the Colorado Rapids Wednesday night. Saer Sene scored a goal and added an assist for the home side.
The Rapids opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Jaime Castrillon leapt highest at the near post to head home an inswinging corner kick from Martin Rivero.
The home side leveled matters six minutes later. Stephen McCarthy rose high to win a header in the Rapids box, which fell invitingly for Saer Sene. The former Bayern Munich man made no mistake, volleying home with his left foot.
The Revs weren't done in the first half though. Fernando Cardenas took a pass from Sene inside the box, and curled a left-footed effort beyond the outstretched arms of Matt Pickens to make the score 2-1.
Both teams had chances to score in the second half, but neither was really able to trouble the opposing goalkeeper, and the Revs managed to hold on to see out the result.
