Seattle Sounders FC 2-0 Houston Dynamo: David Estrada scores - again

Early goals from Estrada and Brad Evans helped Seattle to a rough-and-tumble win over the visiting Dynamo.

David Estrada didn't score during his first two seasons in MLS. Now, in his third, he has four goals in two games.

The Seattle Sounders rode two first half goals to a 2-0 win over the Houston Dynamo to maintain a perfect record in the league. Houston had won the first two of a total of seven away games to begin the season.

"Over the course of the season you've got to win games different ways," Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid said. "Today was one of those games where you've got to roll up your sleeves and you've got to battle and persevere."

Houston is known for its set pieces, so -- with a sneer from the Fate Sisters -- Seattle scored both of its goals from corner kicks.

The first fell out to the top of the box, where Estrada lashed it back towards goal. The shot took a wicked clip off Colin Clark's boot to end up in the back of the net. "It was a deflection, obviously," Estrada said. He celebrated with an exaggerated shrug. "Everything that I hit is going in. It's luck, but I work so hard for it."

A few minutes later former Dynamo Patrick Ianni went down in the box when challenging for a corner and the referee awarded a penalty. Brad Evans slipped it into the bottom right corner and the Sounders were two up less than half an hour in. "We scored two timely goals," as Schmid put it.

With half an hour remaining, Evans left the match with a hamstring complaint. "Better safe than sorry," he said.
