DID YOU KNOW?
  • Defender Israel Jimenez, forward Marco De la Mora, and midfielders Javier Cortes and Nestor Calderon will all be returning to the Mexican roster after being suspended six months for a prostitution scandal during last year's Copa America

  • Mexico will field an entirely domestic-based roster, while Venezuela is all domestic-based, except for two MLS players: Alejandro Moreno and Emilio Renteria.
  • Venezuela lost 1-0 to the United States Saturday night on a last-second Ricardo Clark header.

  • Although midfielders Gerardo Torrado and Rafael Marquez were both left out of the squad Mexico coach Jose Manuel de la Torre denied it meant the end of their international careers, but said that his squad is picked not on age, but form.
  • Venezuela finished a best-ever fourth in the most recent Copa America. The country has built on that finish and is currently tied for first with Argentina and Uruguay in South American World Cup qualifying.
  • There are no uncapped members of the Mexico roster. Defender Efraín Velarde has the least caps with just one.
