Bolton Wanderers 2-1 Swansea City: Chris Eagles hits second-half winner to send Coyle's men through in FA Cup

Chris Eagles second-half effort was enough to ensure Bolton Wanderers progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over Swansea City.

Bolton started the brighter of the sides with its first attempt on goal within 10 minutes, Ricketts got his head to an Eagles' free-kick with Swansea's Gerhard Tremmel saving at full stretch.

They had two more chances in the opening 20 minutes with Eagles creating some space in the box before misfiring his shot. Then David Ngog found himself one-on-one with Tremmel, who saved with his foot.

The hosts were dominating and continued to pepper the Swans' goal, the former Liverpool striker scuffed a volley off-target, Mark Davies fired straight at the keeper then tried to line up a volley only to fluff his lines and Martin Petrov had an effort saved.

Chances for Swansea were scarce but they had the ball in the net when Wayne Routledge finished a Leroy Lita cross, but the flag was up and the goal didn't count.

Luke Moore gave the visitors the lead late into the first half, with a chipped finish past Gerhard Tremmel. However the lead did not last long, with Darren Pratley netting with a header two minutes later against his former side, ensuring the teams went in level at the break.

Rodgers' men improved after the break with McEachran shooting just wide from distance and Moore causing problems for the Trotters, however as the half went on they failed to create much and Bolton re-gained the upper hand.

Eagles followed up Petrov's shot 10 minutes into the second half to ensure Bolton's strong showings in the Cup continue. Tremmel, who had been good up until the second goal, may have done better with the initial effort but his parry allowed the former Manchester United midfielder to finish.

The visitors nearly replied instantly, when Lita hit the frame of the goal, before Pratley then hit the Swans' crossbar.

Bolton ended the stronger side with a flurry of half-chances, but the Swans nearly stole a replay when Danny Graham had an opening late on, but he headed against the post and Bolton saw out the win booking its place in the fifth round.
