  • Canada won the first match of the round between the two nations, when a Dwayne De Rosario goal helped the Canadians prevail 1-0 last week at Toronto's BMO Field.
  • With his goal in that match, De Rosario took sole custody of the all-time Canadian men's national team goalscoring record.
  • Canada has not qualified for a World Cup since 1986. It has not reached the final round of qualifying, the Hexagonal, since 1998. Panama is hoping to qualify for its first ever World Cup tournament.
  • Estadio Rommel Fernandez was sold out well in advance of this match. with over 31,000 expected to attend.
  • Panama supporters have camped out in front of the Canadian hotel with the goal of disrupting the visitors rest ahead of Tuesday's game.
  • Canada is the only CONCACAF team that has yet to concede a goal in the current qualifying round.
