Egypt's newly appointed coach Bob Bradley has called up 38-year-old goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary for duty despite the player being suspended by his current club in Sudan. Mohamed Aboutrika was surprisingly left out of the squad, but Bradley did state he could return in the future. Although Mohamed Zidan has seen his first team opportunities at Borussia Dortmund limited, he has also earned a call-up. Mohamed Nasef could make his debut for the Egyptians, while Ahmed Hegazy could earn his third cap following a string of impressive performances for the U-20 side. Ex-Wigan striker Amr Zaki has withdrawn through injury and will not be in the squad on Monday.

Mano Menezes looks set to make a small number of changes to the team that faced Gabon. Daniel Alves returns from suspension to replace Fabio, and Alex Sandro displaces Adriano on the opposite side. Thiago Silva comes in for Luisao as David Luiz is the only defender to hold on to his place. Menezes looks set to stick with the 4-4-2 formation that his side utilized against Gabon. Real Madrid teammates Kaka and Marcelo withdrew from the squad due to injury.
