Player Ratings: USA 0-1 Ecuador
A look at the players on display as the U.S. fell to a 1-3-1 record under Jurgen Klinsmann, having scored two goals in five matches.
By Seth Vertelney
Didn't have much to do most of the night, and couldn't be blamed for Ecuador's goal.
Held his own in a tough matchup against Montero and played some decent long passes to start the attack. Was a a bit sloppy in possession at times.
Held firm at the back for most of the evening and snuffed out a number of Ecuador attacks.
Playing out of position, he still appears to be the Americans' best option at left back. Got forward well and his positioning is improving in an unfamiliar spot.
Looks to be back to his best and that's a great sign for the U.S. Strong and relentless in the tackle and covered for teammates at the back.
Not his best night. Gave away a couple silly fouls, made several poor passes and gifted Ecuador possession.
Showed flashes of creativity and flair that only he can, but Ecuador did a decent job of bottling him up. Not as influential as Friday night.
Not the performance he was looking for. His touch let him down on a few occasions and whiffed completely on a shot at the top of the box, leading to an Ecuador counter.
Showed some good creativity, but was lacking an end product, similar to Friday night.
An up and down performance. Showed flashes again with great speed and combination play, but was sloppy and had a couple giveaways as well.
A very solid performance before being withdrawn at the half. Looks confident and displayed some very good hold-up play.
Shaky after a second half entrance. Had a poor clearance and inexplicably headed out for a corner under no pressure.
Was only in the match for 10 minutes, but made the crucial mistake of the match: ball-watching and allowing Ayovi to sneak past him to head home the winner
Lively in a second half appearance. Some decent crosses and a good strike on goal.
Kept possession decently well. Didn't have a huge impact positively or negatively.
Was lively as usual, but again failed to find an end product. His scoring drought for the U.S. continues.
Not much of an impact after entering in the 65th minute.
The United States attack failed to trouble him much and was there the few times he was called upon.
Solid in defense and won some crucial headers to keep the U.S. at bay.
Held his own in a tough one-on-one matchup versus Shea on the right flank.
Covered well on one Dempsey chance and did enough to keep the American attack quiet for most of the match.
The veteran stepped in to intervene in a number of U.S. attacks. Could have been better in possession.
Dangerous down the flank and used his exceptional speed to trouble Cherundolo and put in a few decent crosses.
A night to forget. Several giveaways ended promising attacking moves. Appeared disinterested.
Lost the ball in the midfield on a couple of occasions, but defended well and closed the space for the Americans.
A solid performance in the midfield. Was key to a number of Ecuador's counterattacking moves.
An up and down performance. Showed good footwork and nicked the ball away from Edu a couple times, but whiffed on some attacking chances.
Was effectively marked out of the match by Onyewu, but looked a bit more lively in the second half.
Didn't make much of an impact as a sub. Lost out to Chandler in a one-on-one situation.
The second half sub came on and won the game late, ghosting past his marker to head home.
Came on in the 86th minute.
