Seattle Sounders FC closed the season with a strong 3-1 win over Chivas USA, benefiting from an own goal and a second half onslaught to take the victory.
Andrew Boyens put the ball past his own 'keeper with an odd deflection while trying to track back, opening the scoring for Seattle in the 53rd minute. The Sounders doubled the lead in the 68th when Alvaro Fernandez latched onto a Brad Evans trough-ball and slotted it home.
Seattle made it 3-0 in the 73rd when Samuel Ochoa nodded home a Fredy Montero cross to put the game to bed, and give the club a fitting end to another fine regular season.
Chivas USA would pull one back late, with Victor Estupinan heading home a headed pass from Marcos Mondaini, but the game was already well out of reach.
Sigi Schmid gambled by starting Brad Evans and Mauro Rosales, despite having nothing to play for, and was punished harshly. Rosales injured the same right knee that has ruled him out of the home stretch of the season and had to be stretchered off.
